I got to brainstorming about the classic "what if Hitler had gotten into art school" question. Here's what I came up with, any advice?
the point was that he got bitter while broke and homeless in Vienna, and getting accepted would have avoided that.
it's hard to imagine what else would have happened to him or the world as a whole.
he may have stayed out of WWI, came out of it with a different experience, or not come out of it at all.
maybe his paintings would have gotten better after schooling
Perhaps he would have worked in propaganda - a hack, or an artiste like Riefenstahl?
as for a German environment that favored militarism/nationalism/anti-Semitism:
someone who ended up as a top Nazi in real life may have ended up as _the_ Fuhrer. However, I have no idea which one. Any suggestions here?
The real-life Night of the Long Knives was in part a purge of the NSDAP's left wing. Perhaps this would not have happened or happened in the other direction. It was a key extralegal activity in and of itself, but what if National Socialism had taken the "socialism" part more seriously?
