Those Pesky Puritans: WI A Different Group Landed On Plymouth Rock?

Suppose the Puritans had been prevented from leaving England and another group took their place. Would we have Thanksgiving as we know it today?

Since US Thanksgiving is a 19th century tradition, I'd say the chances are about evens. Of course without the Puritans in Plimouth PLantation, you might get the French of Dutcfh there, and that could bugger up the whole English Colonies thing so badly you might not have a USA, let alone a US-style Thanksgiving.

That wouldn't matter much in the grand sweep of an alternate world but at Thanksgiving kids would dress up as French Hugenots or Dutch Reformers instead of Pilgrims/Puritans.

How about French Catholics. Its little known fact that the first Thanksgiving in North America was actually celebrated in Quebec in the 16th Century.
