So I was in my Environmental Science Class today discussing the move "Who killed the Electric Car?" a movie about the rise and fall of electric cars in California.

That power companies would benefit from this was briefly discussed, and my (alternate history addled) mind immediately jumped to Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison founded General Electric and was one of the pioneers in eletricifying America. During the time that Edison's inventions were coming out and General Electric was rising, so was Henry Ford and the Model T.

The utility company(s) would benefit greatly from electric cars, so what-if while cars became more common, Edison became interested in linking personal transportation to his growing technology empire?
