Out of topic first off, I decided to do this to tell this kind of story from a US point of view. The time is, deliberately, different from MacRagge's thread.
I'm not one-tenth the writer he is. Then again, I would say that would be true of just about everyone else on here--I personally consider Protect and Survive to be the single best fan-written piece of alternate history I've ever read, bar none. I'm enjoying it immensely. I did not and do not want anyone to think I was trying to steal his thunder, which is why I'm taking a totally different departure point for this thread.

Also, my view of how such a war would have been thought is different from his, so please, let's hold the "but in Protect and Survive..." comments, ok?
Enjoy his for what it is--an insanely good piece of fan-written AH. I hope he compiles it into document/book form when all is said and done, a la "A Greater Britain". Hopefully, you'll enjoy mine for what it is.

After six days of fighting resulting in several thousand military and civilian deaths, a military junta assumes control of Egypt. Its immediate and first action is to disavow the Israel-Egypt peace treaty. Sadat and Mubarak are denounced as collaborators with the Zionist enemy. Martial law is declared throughout the country.

A picture postcard...
