"They wanted me to be another Washington"...

What if Napoleon had indeed been another Washington and had retired to be a famous mathematician and physicist between 1803 (the end of the war of the Second Coalition) and 1808 (before the invasion of Iberia)? What effects would this have on world history?

Really it all depends on if Napoleon really detaches from politics or he installs one of his brothers or a useful 'idiot' as the new First Consul.

Someone needs to make a TL out of this. Now.

Be real, there can be no real peace with perfidious Albion! ;)

Actually, the rupture of Amiens Peace is largely due to a change of policy in Britain (or to be more accurate, a return to normality). And the refuse of Britain to withdraw from Malta, associated to an ultimatum that nobody could have accepted...Not talking about the fact UK declared the war...

So, yes, you can hardly have a peace with Pitt's Albion :D

Napoleon was a brilliant mathematician and physicist? He knew that stuff?
Yes. We have proof Napoleon was a brilliant student in History, Geography, Mathematics and Geometry. And when he became Lieutenant, his examinator had been Pierre-Simon Laplace, a great French mathematician of the XVIIIth Century. Plus, Napoleon was originally an Artillery commander: how do you think he got that good with canons? :p

Great idea !

You can have a Napoleon becoming like Voltaire a defender of liberties, sciences and progress : new sort of humanism. With a POD just after the peace and the concordat and with some constitutional changes, a parliament with real power and a military consul who doesn't want to become ruler, you can have a peace inside and outside.
With Tayllerand and Fouche in governement, it will be very interesting inside and outside France.

With no war, you have No nationalism in Europe ! How the monarchies will find support to stay in power ?
