According to the Qur’an, before the days of Muhammad there was another prophet by the name of Hud. This man preached monotheism to the early Arab tribes, urging them to abandon their wicked, hedonistic, polytheist ways or face the wrath of the One True God. The tribes ignored the prophet and so God, fed up with tolerating their insolence and pride for so many years, went all Sodom and Gomorrah on their @$$.

Now let's assume that this story is based in truth -- let's say there really was a monotheistic preacher called Hud who tried to convert the early Arabs but was told by them to piss off. But what would have happened if Hud had been successful and managed to unite Arabia under a single, monotheistic religion just as Mohammad did OTL?

Wikipedia says Hud is estimated to have been born "sometime between 300 and 600 BCE". No idea how they came by that date, but what would a united, proselytizing (and possibly expansionist) 5th century BCE Arabia mean for its neighbors like the Achaemenid Empire, the Neo-Babylonian Empire, the Greek city states, etc. Or (assuming it's not butterflied away) what about the Roman Empire later on?
