Theodosius gives Honorius the entire prefecture of ilriycum

Theodosius decides to give his younger son Honorius the entire prefecture of ilriycum including Greece while giving arcadius just the prefecture of the east. He does this while telling his son he'll be a good emperor and that he will have many challenges but he will triumph over them all because he is his son. This heartwarming act causes Honorius to work hard and to grow up to be one of the greatest emperors ever. How does this change things?

Scenario 2: Honorius still stays lazy and incompetent

I'm sorry, but this is almost spamming.

Your enthusiasm is great, but you're currently almost a quarter of the threads on the front page and most of them are 1-3 sentences followed by a "bump", and you're pushing a lot of other threads off the front page.

Surely, since most of them seem to be elaborations on the same theme (i.e. a larger stronger Roman Empire) you could combine them or ask a mod to do so?

Here is where you need to argue your TL, or at least provide some sort of logic justifying the next sentence

I'm really not seeing cause and effect here.

Honorius will still be a shitty emperor, but it does give Stilicho a lot more to work with now that he controls a wealthy land with valuable recruiting grounds. A land that is crucially not mostly in the hands of western senators who often thwarted his attempts at raising more funds and men.

I added some justification on why Honorius will turn out better in this time line and a scenario where he stays the same.

Honorius was just a shitty emperor. That's never going to change, Honorius was always going to be Honorius. A pep talk from his father wasn't going to change that.

I know the pep talk is silly but I couldn't think of anything else. Okay how about if he was a competent version Honorius who's dads pep talk inspired into action. And if you don't want to talk that there's a scenario where he is still otl Honorius. How does the west do in either scenario with ilriycum including Greece?

Fuller filler
