Theodore Roosevelt Hunts Wolves with Jack Abernathy?

Now, I've heard of an anecdote about Theodore Roosevelt meeting with Jack Abernathy in the early 1905. According to this, TR wanted to catch wolves akin to Jack (bare-handed), but the Secret Service stopped him.

My question is, what would've happened if they hadn't, and Roosevelt was killed by a wolf in 1905? What are repercussions for the country if TR dies by wolf attack?

Maybe instead of dying, he gets injured? Then (aside from a reputation for killing wolves with his bare hands) the butterflies kick in his post presidency, possibly undoing his savanah and keeping him in the country during the early Taft years...
