Theobald III of Navarre

Theobald, son of Henry of Navarre, died in unfortunate accident as small kid. What if he survived to adulthood? French-Navarrese union is certainly avoided, but what other changes should we expdect? Is Philip IV still marries Joan of Navarre if she is not heiress of the kingdom? And Navarre underbsurviving House of Champagne, how would it looks like?

Philip could still marry Joan. There could still be a possible way to acquire the rights to Champagne through her if Philip is able to thoroughly punk Theobald.

You rang?

I'd say much would depend on Thibaut's personality. If he's too ambitious (Carlos el Malo) he'll break on either Phil's France or Edward's Gascony and ¡hasta la vista! any lands in France.

Ideal type would be someone who doesn't make himself too problematic, either for Edward or Phil. Otherwise, he's gonna be a minnow between two sharks IMO
