Theistic Communism

What if Marx did not view religion as "the sigh of the oppressed creature" and thus did not make Communism atheist? What would the affects of a theistic Communism have?

I can certainly think of a few things. Firstly, atheism was one of the major reasons for the Red Scare across the USA. With a religous Communist ideology, it would not seem so terrifying to American and European citizens.
Another possibility is that the Catholic Church dispised Communism because of its athestic stance, thus drove them into the arms on Benito Mussolini. Without Papal backing, it is dupious that Mussolini would come to power. This would intern mean that 'Fascism' as we know it would not have existed.

Any other ideas?

Look up Christian Socialism on Wiki, examine the Latin American Christian Democratic parties, PM Thande for any other questions.

Chistianity is sorta Socialistic

It's true. Many people including Ayn Rand and her followers accused Christianity of being similiar to Communism. (Except for the part of rejecting religion.)

Wouldn't that really screw up the whole idea of Marxism, ie that everything in world history can be explaind by the economic forces? And if the church was a force for good, read marxism, why haven't it ussered in a new era of the Marxian happy future?

well comunism was almoust a religion of sorts, olnly not a theistic one

anyway this wouldnt help, it wasnt a theological question that caused reactionary thinking, it was the whole redistribution of wealth/nationalisation of means of production, that caused general fear and mutual hatred
the whole religious thing was mora a kind of propaganda tool, with the church simply suporting those who would let it keep what it had, and then some, as oposed to those ho would shoot priests and nationalise katedrals

so even a theistic comunism would not be seen as any better than some kind of heretical terorist movement

also theres the "progresive" paradigm in all revolutionary movements, wich is then automaticaly countered by the "traditional values" paradigm, meaning the church will be the first to denounce anithing that falls out of average, let alone a movement that demands sexual education in schools, class equality, violent redistribution of wealth, plans to reorganise the family unit, and generaly put the whole order of the christian world upside down

so if they demand this in the name of some actull deity theyl yust be caled satanists and antichrists about 50% more times per sermon than in OTL

howewer this coul impact the general spread, organisation and longevity of such "comunism"
possibly it would become more routed in the population, become something people truly identify with generation after generation, instead of a political idea that broke down after almoust a century of misuse and catastrofic incompetence
