Lawrence Oliver Ruperts was born on May 22, 1914 to a family of German descent in Cincinnati, Ohio. The second son of Karl and Alice Ruperts, his family moved to Los Angeles in 1931. After his graduation from UCLA, Larry met the man who would become his longtime partner, Jack Warner.

Jack Tyler Warner Jr. was born on July 7, 1912 in Brooklyn, New York as the son of carpenter, Jack Warner Sr.. His family moved to Los Angeles in 1923 and studied and graduated from the University of Southern California. In 1937, Jack Warner met Ruperts for the first time and together, they formed Dooly Inc., an animation studio home to the greatest cartoons on the planet.​

The world embarked on a day-long celebration to celebrate the end of the war in Europe. The Nazis have surrendered to the Allies, Adolf Hitler has been assassinated in his private bunker by a platoon of Russian soldiers, with the city of Berlin under allied control.
