The World vs. America

With a POD after 1940, how can we get most of the industrialized world to declare war on the US and possibly Canada and how would it turn out? I'm thinking a permanent Nazi/Soviet Pact, victorious in WWII deciding to take on America in the early 1960's or so. They have all of Eurasia, and are allied with China, N. Korea, most of South America, and Mexico. America only has Canada, Japan (industrialized and armed), Cuba, Australia, and the Free British in Newfoundland. (The US still has the Philippines)

America still has the most nukes seconded by Germany and then Russia but ballistic missiles are still in their infancy in terms of payload and targeting. The German fleet is still small although they have plenty of subs (only the US has nuclear subs though). The US also has millions of British refugees who have mostly settled down by then along with most of the British fleet (aged but kept in reserve).

Say tensions have been building up for some time and America is already at peak readiness with millions of soldiers already drafted. How would such a war turn out and ultimately who would win?

How about we say that the scenario is most unlikely. Seems more to be a version of Avalon Hill's Fortress America game. What makes it unlikely is that the US has Cuba, but somehow Mexico has been permitted to slip into the Axis ranks. I don't see the US permitting anyone to dominate any territory between the Rio Grande and the Panamian/Colombian border other than themselves. South America could certainly go to the enemy but it would really prove of little value.

War breaks and the US wins - why since for the most part the Nazi/Soviet Pact are unpopular occupiers that have to maintain order in their conquered lands. The US may occupy Mexico and Central America and be unpopular, but in the end compared against the Nazis and the Soviets we're not that bad.

Germans win WW2 and UK is forced to make peace. They are officialy neutral but leaning toward Germany (sort of HT Colonisation). No nukes are used against Japan so Us has to invade and turns Japan into wasteland barely able to sustain itself agriculturaly and has no industrial capability to speak of. China is in perpetual civil war with Germany and US supporting their own sides. Some local war in Asia draws Australia in which get's nuked by Germany for it's effort. Which triggers global war between Germany and US.

I doubt Germany could extend their influence to Americas.

Germany smashes the Soviets. No Holocaust or even a very rough behaviour in the East (to decrease German guilt). Hitler killed in 44 together with Himmler and a bunch of other extremists by an SS guard (very good and very fast shooter) bitter because his beloved little brother was killed by Commies. The power vacuum was filled by the moderate faction (mainly Prussian aristocrats). In late 45 America invades with nukes being used on the beaches. With nukes being used as both a tactical and strategic weapon Germany is forced to surrender after 3 months. America installs itself as THE World Power with troops in all of Europe and under the lead of Truman, who is more like an anti-colonial Teddy Roosevelt in this scenario. The French and the Brits are forced to dissolve their Empires, US troops is stationed from the Ukraine to the Channel. A new world Order under the guidance of the Republic is created.

During the 60s a new movements sweeps through Europe, "Blame America" it says and it soon gains a vast following. The French and the Brits blame them for the fall of their Empire, the Germans, Austrians, Lowlanders and French for the use of nuclear weapons. All of Europe resents them for their heavy handness and for the fact that they have been reduced to mere puppets and the great power of American corporations and Big Business in the land of the "Allies". The Russian resent them for their supposed betrayal of the Great Russians cause. In a rebellion similar to the Social wars of ancient Italy the Allies rise up against the Republic, some nations, like Greater Serbia and Poland, joins with the Americans, but the rest are smashed. Due to the development of nuclear weapons and missiles in independent Russia (today’s Russia minus Eastern Siberia) America do not think about using these weapons. This revolt happens in the mid 90's.

The American Garrisons are cut off from supply and soon falls, some slaughtered, as the Great Rebellion rages through Europe. Eastern Siberia is reoccupied, American allies such as Central Asia and Poland are occupied, many Indian nations, and many Chinese warlords also join. In the Muslim world Grand ayatollah al-Sistani together with the House of Saud declares a Jihad, and America now faces another enemy. Soon, almost the entire world with the exception of the western Hemisphere is, to some degree, in revolt against America.

After the initial fighting the Americans have been driven out from Siberia, Europe and North Africa, but remains in control of the British isles, the Mid east, and India, with all of East Asia in a bloody insurrection.

Many Americans want to withdraw back to isolationism but Big Business benefits too much from the World Domination, and Big Business has too much power in America (even greater then OTL). Besides, like in all Empires there are jingoists and as the state assumes control of the media (not direct annexion, but, like in ww2 and ww1 ensuring that the media is patriotic and filling it with propaganda) resistance wither away. Many are also filled with outrage when the horrors of what happens to many American soldiers and civilians if captured...

In 1996 the Free States of Eurasia and Africa forms the League of Free Men. And so does a rebellion end and a war begins...
