I just got done re-reading the stand alone AH Book by Harry Turtledove and Richard Dreyfuss, The Two Georges.

I view this book as lost potential. The book is slow and boring but I the basic premise of the story and more importantly the world they created are fascinating and while the story itself was dull, I loved the details that provided about society in the ATL and the hints dropped about the wider. I wish more had been done with it. I kind of think that a Gazetteer about the world they created would be a lot of fun.
