So I don't know how great the knowledge of Aaron Burr's conspiracy to have the western territories succeed from the union but among those who do do you think there is an possibility of it being successful?
I am still reading through Isenberg's recent Bio of Burr, and what I know besides what I have read in the book is not much. Sadly I am only to 1800. I think a lot depends upon funding and foriegn aid. Interesting book Abe and I recommend picking it up even though I think she is a little easy on Burr. Probably not feasible considering he was setting it up in I believe the 1820s.
Okay. I promise I'll find the source, but found on one googlebook that it was 'to be that part of the United States apart from the lands between the Appalachians and the Atlantick'-IE, all the new western territories won in the ARW.
Possibly, Although the whole conspiracy seems to be rather shadowy and to be much more in the minds of Burr's enemies then it was a reality. Burr would need to not be betrayed by Wilkinson and to gain British support for his expedition which he was unable to get. If those two things became reality than there is a chance he would invade Texas.
