The War of the Worlds - Forthcoming BBC Production

I have been saying that the BBC should be doing this adaptation of War of the Worlds for years now. The BBC is very good at doing a 19th Century period piece so it should be good on that level.
My only worry is the clear lack of budget the BBC put into the recent adaptation of SS-GB, I hope that this isn't the case here. Wells wrote the original book as a serial so it is a natural fit for a good TV adaptation, and clearly has some great set-piece action scenes (the first use of the Martian heat-ray on the common in Woking, the Martian tripod attack on Weybridge, millions of refugees fleeing the Martians through North London, The Thunderchild battle against the Martians in the sea off Essex) but all of these if included would require a decent budget, and bloody good CGI effects.
I hope that the BBC's does justice to Wells tour de force novel.

It depends which BBC funding stream the production comes out of.
Afterall nuWho could only be made via the BBC Wales funding stream.
