The USS William D. Porter likely has the most unbelieaveable and ridiculous history in the history of the US Navy. From the moment it left port, it's period of service was filled with an impressive amount of acts of incompetence and bad luck. In two occasions, it came close to accidentaly sinking the USS Iowa, who was currently transporting president Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Teheran Conference, once by depth charge and once by torpedo. Luckly, neither of those actually managed to kill someone.
However, what consequences could have happened if they had managed to sink the Iowa and kill president Roosevelt, the secretary of state and the joint chiefs of staff. How would that effect the development of WWII?
