The USA lifted the embargo on Cuba in the 90s

What if, after the end of the Cold War, in the 90s, the USA had lifted the embargo on Cuba? How would this affect the USA and Cuba?

I do see Castro compensating US companies which got nationalized in 1959-61. Of course, there are some companies which no longer exist. In that case, the Cubans could probably keep the money once owed to now-defunct companies.

. . . How would this affect the USA and Cuba?
Cuba doesn’t enter an economic depression in early 1990s. The sex industry is not re-established (yes, I think prostitution should be de-criminalized, but all the same, it’s not that great a situation)

And waxing optimistically,

maybe we become half friends with Fidel before he dies?

Effect on the US: Far less than the rounding error on the GDP
Effect on Cuba: Not much, outside of cigars and beach resort spots Cuba has nothing to sell and no one in his right mind would invest in Cuba. You are just begging to be stolen from by the government. So the impact would be moderate at best. It might increase the GDP by a tenth of a percentage point or two.

I misread it, and thought the title was "The USA lifted the embargo on Cuba in the 90s," and was going with a World Series by 2003.
