The Unmentionable Sea Mammal... (i know, i know :P)

so, yeah, Sea Lion. anyone who knows me should know that, while i like ASB concepts, i havent really touched Sea Lion before this thread. just hear me out on this:

in addition to my ASB ATL, Anglo-American Rivalry, and my No-Morphine idea, another TL project i've been mulling over is a comprehensive TL of the events described in teh various campaigns of the first two Empire Earth RTS games because, on the surface, none of them seem to really conflict with each other. specifically, it would focus on the civilizations featured as being playable in each campaign (mainly the Greeks, the English, the Germans, the Russians, the Romans, the Americans, the Asians,* the Koreans, the Egyptians, and the Maasai) and their successors. because of the first German campaign (set in WW1 and WW2), this requires a successful Sea Lion :(

however, there's some things that i'd like to change about the actual conclusion of the German campaign in relation to the rest of it. in EE2, the American campaign involves the defeat of Germany and its partition, as in actual history. even though the Germans undertake operation Sea Lion in their own campaign--if we assume that the campaigns all go together in one timeline--they successfully invade England but are then driven out by the Allies (probably expending so many resources on that that they have fewer to work with against Russia).

basically, as ASB as it is, what does everyone think is the most plausible way that Sea Lion could work out, even if its barebones and only works for a short time before they are driven out. keep in mind that, while Hermann Goering and Erwin Rommel are leading commanders in the German armed forces, the Nazis are not necessarily in power (the word "Nazi" is never mentioned anywhere in any of the campaigns)

*in Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest, the futuristic campaign focuses on teh fictional United Federation of Asian Republics and takes place all over East Asia and then on Mars, though the main body of its territory appears to be China and the leader is (perhaps informally) referred to as Khan

I don't get the obsession with Sea Loin or indeed WWII in general since every POD in those 6 years has been done to death over and over, there really is no way for the Germans to get the Naval forces they would need to take the Royal Navy on in the Chanel, its very very unlikely they'll have have total air power over the UK, if they don't have both they don't land

i'll have to look into it some more, but a relatively plausible way of doing so is presented in the game: after the blitzkrieg and during the Battle of Britain, the Germans destroy the local branch of the Royal Navy (the Bismark is included in that scenario) which leaves them open to marine invasion.

remember, i'm pretty much just trying to make this into a coherent TL and seeing how it would all fit together as one. Sea Lion just happens to be the biggest hitch since it's so implausible. not a world-dominating totalitarian Russia, not the colonization of Mars by the end of the 21st century, not a secret war in the Bering Sea between the US and Soviet Union, not even the continuation of the Aztec Triple Alliance. it'll be an ASB ATL anyway just because of all of that, but i want to look at the most plausible Sea Lion that will still result in German defeat even after a successful invasion :D

It isn't plausible. It's a game.

See the sticky at the top of the board.
