What if... Communism was unpopular in the Russian Empire at the down fall of the Tsar? Who would rise to power? How would WWII Play out? This is just a thing I was woundering about! What are your thoughts?
I can't comment on the specifics, but this is actually a really cool parallel to make. Russia - England, Ukraine - Scotland, Belorussia - Wales, Poland/Baltic states - Ireland, Finland - North Ireland, Central Asia - colonies.
Well, if you want to have a "United Kingdom of Russia" than you need a Russian monarch that denounces Orthodox Christianity & converts to Catholicism, then gets the Pope to crown him king
If this is the result of a reformed Russian Empire (i.e. 1905 Revolution results in a democratic state) then we could have a strong Russian state that plays a key role in the modern world as a liberal, prosperous state. During the Silver Age, the Russian industiral base radically expanded.
If its a result of the OTL Russian Civil War, then see a likely nationalistic right-wing dictatorship emerge. Furthermore, the "Union" might be nothing more than a Russian dominated state with other minorities treated poorly (much like pre-Revolutionary Russia.)
