The United Kingdom of Russia

latest

What if... Communism was unpopular in the Russian Empire at the down fall of the Tsar? Who would rise to power? How would WWII Play out? This is just a thing I was woundering about! What are your thoughts?

I can't comment on the specifics, but this is actually a really cool parallel to make. Russia - England, Ukraine - Scotland, Belorussia - Wales, Poland/Baltic states - Ireland, Finland - North Ireland, Central Asia - colonies.

Russian Republic most likely. We can't be sure whether WW2 would carry out, and it's sides are impossible to predict.

Well, if you want to have a "United Kingdom of Russia" than you need a Russian monarch that denounces Orthodox Christianity & converts to Catholicism, then gets the Pope to crown him king ;)

If this is the result of a reformed Russian Empire (i.e. 1905 Revolution results in a democratic state) then we could have a strong Russian state that plays a key role in the modern world as a liberal, prosperous state. During the Silver Age, the Russian industiral base radically expanded.

If its a result of the OTL Russian Civil War, then see a likely nationalistic right-wing dictatorship emerge. Furthermore, the "Union" might be nothing more than a Russian dominated state with other minorities treated poorly (much like pre-Revolutionary Russia.)
