The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ulster

When Ireland got home rule Ulster voted themselves back into the UK the next day. A catholic majority Ulster would be less likely to 'accept' this.

Here is the roughly four county (half the nine counties) Ulster that I propose:

I like the smaller Northern Ireland.

I also like the idea of tacking Northern Ireland to Scotland.

Just one more thing Perfect general...if I go into properties and post an Image code in order to post my changed map too this page I can't find the normal image code form the properties menu! This is how I post pictures from other sites! For Example If I was to post the same Map from Wikipedia that you directed me to,I can easily do it with the following code:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6e/IrelandUlster.png

I'd just need to type IMG in brackets around each end of the URL code to post it here, how come I can't do that with my Changed map in from the properties menu? I hope you understand my question?

Thanks sissco

See I can copy an dpaste Imagies from other sites....but not from my desktop/folders/MS Paint...Please advise me!

You need to upload it - hit the little paperclip in the post menu, find the image, hit upload, wait for it to upload, close the popup, hit the paperclip again and the name of your file, and a little

[ATT//ACH]99999[/ATT//ACH]

should appear (without the //s). Move this to wherever in your post you want it to go. It will be an image once you post.

(Also - just a tip - save things as .png; they're smaller and don't have ugly .jpg compression artifacts.)

Sorry to butt in here, but I think you're getting confused between inserting an image from the web and attaching a file from your computer to your post. You can only insert an image using the tabs if it's already hosted somewhere on the web.

To attach a file to your post click on 'Manage Attachments' under 'Additional Options' (below the bit where you type the post). In the window which appears click 'Browse...' and find the file on your computer the click 'Open' then 'Upload' and close the window.

PNG is usually the best format to use for images. Hope that helps!

EDIT: Beaten to it!

'sOK... Your explanation was better. :o

And @Thande: So, you're saying basically that keeping Ulster together would be a much, much bigger task than I casually assumed?

Rubberduck,

Pleased to help. Is that just a test pic, or is it really an NI containing Dublin?!

It was a test pic to make sure that I know how to do it correctly...I filled in the counties of "Ulster" with the "Paint filler" and accidently clicked on Dubling.....sorry about that, please do no be offended..... I honestly did not mean to do it!

Did you mean to give a bit of Donegal (Inishowen) to your NI?

Yes. it helps win the second world war. The western approaches to Liverpool and Glasgow from USA and Canada are easier to patrol with the naval base at Inishowen and the option of an air base for anti-submarine MPA (maritime patrol aircraft). The mid Atlantic gap is less of a problem and losses in home waters are reduced (North Atlantic and home waters were the greatest areas of loss). The other Treaty Ports were more significant, but Loch Swilly is the only one near enough to include in NI.

As part of NI/Ulster Inishowen will be retained within the UK even if the treaty ports are signed over to Eire ( Eire (Confirmation of Agreements) Act 1938 - much to Churchill's dismay). Victory was achieved at a huge cost: between 1939 and 1945, 3,500 Allied ships were sunk (gross tonnage 14.5 million) at a cost of 783 German U-boats.
