The goal of this is to see if it is PLAUSIBLE to have a fascist Israel post Israeli War of Independence. The objective is to have Israel remain fascist until either
  • end of Cold War(1989 or other date)
  • Some other pivotal event
  • or present day
Adieu

Clarification

By Fascist I don't mean Nazi-esque, just an authoritarian,business-friendly nation approximately comprising the current territory of the State of Israel, and embodying the idea of a Jewish homeland.

Because the reason that the idea of creating a Jewish State in the Holy Land was accepted among the Gentiles was that six million jews lost their lives in a genocide caused by a fascist regime.

I think it depends on if you mean fascism or Fascism, if that makes any sense.

Could Israel be a militaristic corporatist dictatorship? I don't see why not, given the right circumstances.

Would it ever call itself Fascist? Almost certainly not, due to the association with the Axis powers.

How to make it the first one (small f fascism) I am not too sure. Early Israel had a strong socialist element, so you would have to deal with that. I would say make Israel a US client in the cold war earlier. The USSR supported Israel early on. If you limit the Kibbutzs (sp?) and other socialist movements, the Soviets might be more staunchly anti-zionist.

I don't know much about internal Israeli politics. Broadly speaking, would it be fair to say it is more right-wing now than it was in the early years?

I think that most likely scenario (although I'm too lazy to write a TL on it) is that Israel gets Terrified of Nasser, allies itself with the US,and for the sake of efficiency, closes the Kibbutzim. After that, two outcomes are plauible:
  1. Ben-Gurion goes mad with power
  2. either enemy agents assasinate the president and blow up the Knesset, or Israeli Fascists make the public think they did, 'a la the Reichstag fire.

Thanks for the tip, Narnia ,in theory it sounds quite reasonable. One more thing, can you please refer to them as the Jewish Defense League ,or the JDL?

Poll

This is a poll about which of the following options are more realistic\make a better story
  1. Kach seize power instead of being banned.
  2. Ben-Gurion goes mad with power
  3. Either terrorist\enemy agents assinate the prime minister and blow up the Knesset. In the aftermath, the military declares indefinite martial law. A young, charismatic army corpral (NAME PENDING) siezes power "
in order to preserve the jewish race and people."
Israeli extremists assasinate the prime minister and blow up the Knesset, but blame it on terrorists\ a hostile foreign power and perform a coup d'etat.

About the Millitary Coup D'Etat by a Hitler-esque Figure Option

History Doesn't repeat itself, but it does rhyme*

*This one's an actual quote, rather than a parody. It was written by Mark Twain (real name: Samuel Clemens).
