Lopburi, Ayuthayya Kingdom, 10-18th March, 1688
Fearing a possible coup, Desfarges takes the risk on angering the populace-and disobeying king Narai and Phaulkon's orders, as he moved more than 100-of his troops to defend the king and Phaulkon, king Narai finally decided that his daughter, Kromluang Yothathep, will succeed him in a event where Narai passes away. This, however, gave Petracha the window to launch his planned coup, where on 17th March, those who are loyal to Petracha attempts on arresting king Narai, which led to twenty of these men being executed, sparking the Ayuthayyan Civil War. Things began to got worse, for both side, as king Narai's death are used by Phaulkon-and Desfarges to stir the populace into believing them, hoping to gain a clear advantage in numbers. Forced into a retreat due to Phra Petracha's strength in numbers-and willingness to murder civillians who expressed their support for the old kingdom, Desfarges, Phaulkon, and the royal family managed to flee to Bangkok, the French Empire's last bastion of hope on this civil war.
With the rumour regarding king Narai's death spreading like wildfire, the chaos that is happened within the kingdom managed to bought the loyalists time, with the attempts made on Bangkok and Mergui by Petracha's forces turned into mere futile hits on the garrison, due to the nationwide-civillian disturbance that is happening due to the chaos stemming from the rumour. Believing that their king is assassinated by Phra Petracha, the civillian populace now battles their own kin, with some also began to believe that the French are their saviour, and the new queen could usher Ayuthayya into a new era of glory and wealth. With the war is now turning into a full-scale civil war mimicking those on China, or Europe, Phaulkon departs for France once more, in order to ask Louis XIV's help, in order to receive the king's support.
Putting on a defensive stance for months, the loyalist began to grew its numbers, as those who supported the loyalists began to flock and enlist with the loyalist army led by Desfarges, although this very move also began to give Petracha slivers of time, as the unorganized riots that plagues his territories began to die down time by time. Despite lacking the equipments, Desfarges will rely on his tactics, and the high morale his army had, against Petracha's superiority on numbers, although it will be changed soon, as many began to question Petracha's actual motives-and needless brutality.
