Well OK it's impossible. Why? Yeh, it would be difficult getting American/Brit ships through the Med but not impossible, and then the Russian AF could protect them up and across the Black Sea.
The obvious advantage is that it cuts Stalin off from taking over Eastern Europe after the war and in a way he couldn't very well object to. It's also more directly aimed at taking Germany and ending the war rather than getting involved in a sideshow
