The Tragedy of Prince Hans

I think a figure in history who often gets sidelined/overlooked, is Christian II's only surviving son, Johan. The boy was the crown prince of Denmark, but much like his sister Dorothea, is neglected in althistory in favour of his other (more interesting sister) the Duchess of Milan, Kristina.

Granted Hans would be a threat to the Danish court as long as he's around, but I for one would like to see him grow up and grow old (at least by 16th century standards), maybe marry and have a few kids. It's just an idea I've had.

Bonus points if he marries Bloody Mary - might get interesting - what with two heirs in political limbo. Also, considering his mother was reportedly sympathetic to Lutheranism (although the Hapsburgs hushed that up and gave out that she died a convinced Catholic), might he feel "Copenhagen is worth a mass in Danish"?

Well at the very least I can guess that Emperor Charles would give more support to restoring the deposed Danish Royal Family.

Or he could have given it to Johan to free his father of captivity and reinstate Catholisism in Denmark-Norway; well basically the same.

The bad thing of course being that Catholisism at the time was close to dead fish in Denmark; even Christian II had Lutheran sympathies or was too indecisive to kill it off. Then he always could have done with payment of the dowry.

Is Henry VIII gonna give Mary a dowry? I thought that that was one of the reasons he didn't let her marry after Edward VI was born.

:D I've got it! OTL after Jane Seymour dies, Henry pushed for a remarriage to the duchess of Milan who replied "if I had two heads, one should be at the king's disposal".

It is then that Henry offers to marry Mary to Hans, while he marries Kristina. Okay, it'll get a little weird because you would need some sort of dispensation for Henry to marry Kristina (though he could do Mary and Hans' wedding without one, since then their children would be illegitimate due to forbidden degrees of affinity in both Protestant and Catholic eyes):D

No - Isabella/Elisabeth was married to Christian II 1514 by proxy but Christian never got the dowry of 250.000 guilders.
Had he or Johan/Hans gotten that they might have been able to recounquer Denmark-Norway.
