The Tiber Empires?

I was thinking of this reading the Remus and Romulus myth. What if Remus, had gotten away, and made his own city across the Tiber, and called it Rema, what could happen? I am already writing a timeline. ASB or not?

Romulus and Remus I think are myths though I would like to see how different ATL Roman culture would be if Remus was the person who founded the city.

I am thinking of, Rome forming the Roman Empire north of the Tiber, with Rema forming the Reman Empire/Republic

Sounds interesting. I'll subscribe it.

I guess Rome would be influenced more by Celtic and Germanic culture while Rema is more influenced by Carthaganian, Greek and Egyptian culture.

Yes, and here is something that will be interesting. The Remans control most of the Mediterraen, and are taking Arabia, and trying to get into Africa. The Romans control Britain, Scotland, and Ireland. Remans=Strong Navy, Moderate Army Romans=Strong Army, Weak Navy

Most likely, one city would do to the other one the same treatment that OTL Romans gave to Veii. No way they can develop BOTH great empire in different areas. The culture could be different in a lot of very interesting ways, though.

Probably not going to happen, but interesting idea. If both were fairly equal and huge cities destined to create as big of empires as you say, one is going to have to triumph over the other unless they're Milan - Taranto apart as best case scenario for you. Rome and Carthage were seperated by a few hundred miles of sea and they were too close to each other for them to coexist with their own seperate empires. Two huge empires (both based on the Tiber?) are way too close for one to be conquering Britain and the other Arabia without one conquering the other, IMO.

Yeah. Veii was conquered very quickly and the rest of the Etruscan states who weren't destroyed by Gauls were swallowed by the Romans.

Interestingly though, you have to think. If Rome does not experience the pillage by the Gauls, would it evolve the same mindset of 'I must secure myself by destroying everyone around me'? If Rema absorbs the blunt of attacks, Rome would be more Hellenized.

Actually, it is the Italics that used Rome that is why the Italics were always Pro-Roman even in Southern Gaul and at the time of the Roman Empire the Italics became stronger, they would not expand further if not for Rome.
