The survival of George Mouzalon

I've been having a bit of a nose at the end of the Frankokratia and discovered the riots and murder of George Mouzalon at the hands of the Palaiologids and the army.

Do people think it would be as easy as avoiding the riot and continuing with the creation of the Greek Army over the Latin Army, or will Mouzalon need to do some better work to root out the dynatoi scheme?

And if he survives, what impact do people think this will have? Could Mouzalon and the Laskarids still get the guards to open the gate? Would the Greek Army being formed lead to a healthier Byzantine Empire?

What are your thoughts?

Seems like a similar setup to age of miracles. Might actually work, too. If you want the best chance of this working, hold off a few more years, tho.

Muzalon surviving ? only at one condition : Theodoros II lived longer. Muzalon (and his protector) was hated by too many people to survive with only the support of the young John IV.

What if instead of exile for Palailogos, he was instead executed, and if possible, his lands confiscated? The ringleader of the nobility is gone, and assuming they remain in disarray, Mouzalon can establish his and John IV positions, and the new Greek Army.

Great possibility. But that's hard : theodoros was too way brutal against nobility and army.
