The successor of Edward VIII.

by the 1960s with woman taking a greater role in society that might change, more so since her children, the future king, wouldn't be HRHs, in OTL their grandfather changed that but in this world… well the titles issue would be a nightmare.

In TTL I'd anticipate that Edward VIII would grant the "HRH" style to Elizabeth's children as George VI did in OTL. However, as Elizabeth would no more be Edward VIII's heir apparent in TTL than she was George VI's in OTL, she wouldn't become Princess of Wales. And yes, titles in this world would be a nightmare to sort out.

I think the married with children Elizabeth would enjoy more popularity than the single Edward.

Most probably.

...

also whats the likelihood that the rules would be changed on the Duchy of York to pass it down to a female heir like they did for the Duke of Marlborough or Earl Mountbatten of Burma? if not what about making Elizabeth Duchess of York in her own right after George's death like the Duchess of Inverness?

The rules can't be changed like that. The parameters established when a title is created remain inviolate while that title is extant (this was the case regarding the dukedoms & earldoms you mentioned, which were created with special reminders and permissions). That's not to say that, after her father Albert, Duke of York died and the title became "extinct" -presuming that he & Elizabeth (Bowes-Lyon) don't have a post-POD son- Edward VIII couldn't create Elizabeth as Duchess of York in her own right. It probably wouldn't happen however if she, through her husband (Philip or whomever) already had a royal title (Duchess of Edinburgh or whatever).

I think that is not improbable that at some point in 60s (especially if his
health conditions worse as in OTL) Edward VIII could abdicate in favor of Elizabeth.
Remember that he not like the duty of King, and at seventy years could be tired.
Besides i expect that Elizabeth and his family could be very popular at that point.
So is not improbable a Elizabeth II coronation around 1965.

I don't see Edward's abdication happening. On this time office of king/queen was for life. In OTL the king abdicated because he couldn't marry Wallis Simpson if he would be king so he choice abdication. Retiring kings/queens are very new thing expect Netherlands.

King George VI never wanted to be King, the Stress of it lead to him Chain smoking, that plus the extreme stress of being King during the war, again George didn't want the job, he was a very private man with a crippling fear of public speaking, basically is what killed him, killed him very young really, he was only 56 years old in 1952, now, if Edward VIII manages to stay king till his death in 1972, then George is saved the stress of leading the nation through war, smokes a hell of a lot less, is less stressed out, and maybe doesn't get cancer from 10 straight years of chain smoking, in 1972 he'd have been 76 years old, not all that out there for him to be alive in 1972 and take the crown for a few years before Elizabeth II

interesting question, if George dies because Edward, what title would Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon get? would it just be Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of York, or would she gain some informal title like "The Queen's mother" ?
She would be simply HRH the Duchess of York, if not she and her husband has a hypothetical son (he is going to be king). If they had such and he is married and become duke of york before death of Edward VIII. then queen mother would be Dowager Duchess of York.
