The Spanish Victory over the United States (After 1900)

The Spanish Empire, had won by some miracle the war, would be just Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philipines and the African posessions, nothing compared wit hthe British or the French Empires. If by some chance it had not imploded between 1898 and 1914, there would still be little reasons for Spain to join. No one helped them IOTL 1989 war, so, why bother? What would be France or Germany ready to offer to gain their friendship?

Adn yes, the USA would still be going on. Their defeat in 1898 would be like the British defeat in the Sudan in 1885. They came back in 1898 and crushed the Mahdi.

The Spanish days are numbered. They lose the Philippines either way. Spanish only controlled like a few cities in Cuba.

Really, they should lose and just get rid the rotten thing they called a Empire. Or let the Americans come back and smash them with a vengeance.

If Spain had somehow managed a victory, it would have to occur because of another power coming in on their side. Spain quite simply lacked enough naval power to face the American battleship line. The most likely candidate for intervention would be Germany, though you'd have to have a major POD long before the 1898 war...maybe something to do with Bismarck dieing early, as he was the main impediment to German colonial expansion in the 1870s-1880s. Regardless, Spanish victory would not threaten the USA. It would only lead to a massive American military build-up and an even bigger round 2 some 5-20 years later. This might be a good route to getting the USA into WWI in 1914 as an opportunist getting her own back vs. the Germans and the Spanish. More likely a second war localized to the Caribean would have occurred circa 1903-1907 around the Venezuela debt crisis, etc. OK, I'm bordering on an ASB TL now so I'll stop to see responses....

Would the empire be like dominions or end up revolts that give independence to the countries of the Spanish empire
