The Spanish Flu in 1901

How do you think the world might be affected? The lack of a war going on at the time might elongate the duration of its reign delay or, at the same token, soften its deadliness. Certainly plenty of butterflies.Thoughts?
Well for one you need a reason for the American virus to take hold, which could be just some guy on vaction. But you need to add to that the living conditions from soldiers in the trenches, and the lack of medical supplies and doctors due to WWI.
So, while maybe not the Spanish Flu occuring, it would be something that could be contained. For in 1901 people understood virus's, and how one needed to be kept away. WWI made things difficult as every man at the front, and on the home front was needed so by the time people understood the extent of the flu it was too late to contain.
