The Shattered Curtain - A British-American Cold War

7 March 1922
The Russian Civil War has been raging since 1917. The Whites are nearly defeated, and the Bolsheviks are deciding who should lead the new "Soviet Union." Joseph Stalin is clearly the most popular canidate when suddenly, while in Moscow, a Tsarist assassin shoots him. Stalin dies in a hospital two days later. Nikolai Bukharin, one of Stalin's allies, takes the helm as the first leader of the Soviet Union.

Just something random but useable on insane monster Carl Panzram.

He also wanted to blow up a train trestle in New York, and poison the water of Dannemora, New York, where he had been held earlier. His biggest, weirdest plan was to start a war between Britain and the United States by sinking a British battleship in US waters. The reason? He would have invested in stocks (using money he earned from his train attacks) that would rise should there be a war. He would play Wall Street in order to profit off a false war he started. James Bond should have fought this guy.

1931
Chinese Communists decide to work within the Republic of China rather than creating their own state, fearing that they will be crushed without Soviet support. Nikolai Bukharin begins minor industrialization. The United states presidential elections are about to begin. Incumbent Herbert Hoover is increasingly unpopular after his failure to handle the Great Depression, and the Democrats have nominated Franklin D. Roosevelt as their candidate.
1932
Franklin D. Roosevelt is elected president with his popular "New Deal" policies he promises to implement as a measure to fight the great depression, however Socialist parties have won an impressive amount of votes for third parties. Many Germans are turning towards the radical KGB and NSDAP with the charismatic Adolf Hitler gaining citizenship. The Papen government desparately tries to suppress the Nazis. Sino-Japanese relations are notoriously poor after the battle of Shanghai.

Most of 1933-40 will likely be the same. Ask any questions about events that might be affected.

Chiang kai shek says no. it took him being kidnapped to work with the Communist party despite the threat of Japanese invasion.there also no reason for the communists to work with Chiang so soon after he backstabbed them.

Do you think it’d be more realistic to have Chiang Kai Shek maintain Sun Yat Sen’s good relations with the communists or have the communists still form their own state?

For the former you need a weaker left wing of the nationalist party and no Zhongshan Incident. He will still turn on the CPC but on a later date when everything else is settled.
