What's this?

Some of you may have known I've been working on a new project for a few months. I finally decided to ship the damn thing.

So... It's about the Seventies?

That would be correct.

So... Nixon is a good guy ITTL?

Well, he's viewed a lot more positively than IOTL.

Very mysterious. What else can you tell us about this TL?

Well, it isn't a narrative TL, for one.

Isn't that your thing, though?

I'm experimenting with a new style. One I personally haven't seen done on the site before.

And what's that?

This TL will be presented as if it were a college class in the ATL.

...

What's presented will essentially be the Professor's lectures. Anything in the above font ("Times New Roman") will be what the professor says, while anything in the normal font here will be author notes and comments.

...

There will be certain parts in red that are meant to be student questions, too. I don't expect them to be too terribly important, but they serve as a good way to cover some extra things here and there. I also encourage questions from you, the readers, which will be answered by the professor or me, the author, as the situation calls for. However, for questions to the professor, I will ask that you keep it limited to the time period we've already talked about. For example, if we've only gotten to 1974, please don't ask about the 1976 Election.

This sounds like a very interesting way to present a TL.

I like to innovate, and, like I said, I haven't seen anyone do this style before. I've seen history books, but never history classes.

So is this a TLIAW or something? You do a lot of those.

Nope. This is a full out TL. I just like to start with these internal monologues.

What about the contents of the TL?

It's about the 1970s.

I am aware of that.

I suppose, more technically, it covers the 1968 election to the 1980 election. But really what the TL is about is the 1970s.

Anything else?

I don't this so.

What about a POD?

I suppose I can tell you that. Robert F. Kennedy isn't assassinated in 1968. There isn't even an attempt on his life.

Okay, let's get started.

Gladly. Hope you have your pen and paper ready. First real update should be sometime this weekend, maybe Friday if I get some extra time.

I'm actually really, really excited about this friend! I'm curious, if Nixon is viewed far more positively, what does he do? Don't tell me, I'm just pondering. Better Vietnam, no Watergate? Who knows! I also think the idea of a 'Professor' lectuing his 'students' (read: AH.Com) to be an awfully untapped story medium, and I think its fantastic your willing to try it out. Over all, I'm excited for this friend.

So, do you have any ideas on what's going to happen in computers, video games, and miscellaneous electronics? I have several ideas, if you want to PM Me...

Well, the title does have Decade of Darkness in it. So most likely a worst Nam, a worst Watergate, or maybe a Yom Kippur War gone nuclear.

The strange thing is that Nixon's paranoia was really unfounded. He worked for peace between Russia and China, passed more environmental laws, worked toward integration of schools, and if hadn't been impeached, he would achieved national health care and energy independence. All you have to do is have that one guard who spotted those Watergate burglars miss his shift or something, and Nixon would get off scot free.

Can't wait to read this TL! (Okay fine, I can't wait to read the parts with a certain Texan in them :p) Interesting format idea to do it as a college class.

Speculate as much as you wish, but if you want to know for sure, you'll have to stick around. :p

I have some vague ideas, but if I need anything, I'll be sure to get in contact with you. Thank you so much for the offer; I certainly don't know much in that field. :)

The Seventies ITTL are certainly thought of as worse than when we think of OTL Seventies, but I'll leave it up to you guys to speculate as to the specifics. :D

I'm interested. I will see where this goes.

Thank you for the support. :)

I guess you'll have to stick around to see just what happens to Dick Nixon; I'm not spoiling anything. ;)

Surely you're aware he did die fairly early in the decade.

A intriguing idea and a very novel way to present it too - I'm quite looking forward to this, especially since you've been working on it a good while as well. Carry on, good sir, carry on!

Consider me interested.

I'll certainly take that under consideration. ;)

If RFK isn't assassinated, maybe Nixon takes a bullet?

No Star Wars?

My lips are sealed. :p

Interesting idea, looking forward to it.

Glad to hear it!

With great pleasure, my friend! Onward we march! :p

Nothing ever beats a Nixon Timeline. :D:D:D

Hope you like it and hope you stick around. :D

Cool! :) I always like your work.

Glad to see you around friend! :)

Was hoping for a Yom Kippur-turned-nuclear-war timeline, but judging from the OP that seems incorrect. Nevertheless, this looks good.

'Bad timeline' and 'Nixon timeline' seem to be contradictory phrases :D

Well, I'm glad someone mentioned that one piece of information under the picture in the OP. ;)

Looking forward to reading this!

Thank you so much!

It just occurred to me that there might be a more sinister reason for Nixon being remembered positively...

What on earth could you be talking about? :p

In other news, expect the first update tomorrow.
