June 1966- Part II
So, he had won. It was somewhat surprising, given the fact that the election was somewhat close, and it could have easily gone to Brown. But, it might have been his victory in Los Angeles that was able to bring the election to his side. Regardless, the gubernational primaries had gone his way. Feynman purposely left his famiy out of the whole political affair. He'd celebrate with them later at home. For now, he was fielding a call from Governor Brown.
"I'd like to congratulate you on your victory today, and hope that you will be able to keep the seat here for the Democrats."
"I hope so too, Governor."
Feynman hung up, and congratulated himself. Before he realized he had another 5 months of this. 5 months. Could he do this for another 5 months? It was somewhat hard during the primaries, but this was going to be much tougher. The guy who won on the other side was apparently an actor. Actors could fake this sort of stuff. Could he?
Maybe he should call Governor Brown back, and...
No, he started this whole affair, and he was going to finish it. Hopefully. Anyway, he needed to give a speech soon.
Dick got up, and moved towards the stage.

So, he had won. Not surprising. Since Reagan gave that speech two years ago, he had been a favorite to run for some office here in California. That speech had excited California Republicans, even if Goldwater didn't win, enough that they asked him to run for governor. He agreed, ultimately, to run. And he was able to win against Mayor Christopher very easily. He had the charm, the charisma to get the voters. And he now had the endorsement of the Republican establishment. The former Vice-President (a former Senator from California) had also said he was going to help Ron in this election.
Reagan had been told that he would face Governor Brown in the election. However, that had apparently changed. Some physics professor, this "Richard Feynman" had taken his place. This was going to be his election. Ron could feel it. Anyway, he had a victory speech to give.
