THE RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE-An Alternate 2016 election night TL

Anderson Cooper: Hello, and welcome to CNN’s coverage of election night 2016. First, let’s go over to the poll-closing times. John?

John King: Yes, as you can see here, states like Indiana and Kentucky are going first. Indiana is a swing state, while Kentucky, for a long time, has been a Democratic Stronghold. However, at the same time, those states aren’t very populous. And, under the provisions of the 27th Amendment, which abolished the Electoral College while repealing the 12th and 23rd amendment, while at the same time allowing DC citizens to vote, in order to win the election, you need the most popular votes

Anderson Cooper: That was a lot of details. But, anyways, I think we should see some maps to remind us of the Primaries.

The Republican Primary:

Former Governor Gary Johnson (R-NM)
Senator George Pataki (R-NY)

Much to the ire of the GOP establishment, former Liberty & Justice Governor of New Mexico, who became a Republican in 2011, Gary Johnson, won the primaries. It appears that his anti-establishment message caught on with a lot of Republicans, that, and his victory in Iowa and upset in New Hampshire made him unstoppable. However, George Pataki, leader of the Rockefeller Republican wing, ipso facto was also the leader of the Establishment wing. The Liberals were in near revolt until Johnson placated them with the choice of Speaker of the House John Kasich as Johnson’s running mate, who endorsed Pataki and campaigned for him in Ohio

The Democratic Primary:
genusmap.php

Vice President Brian Schweitzer (D-MT)
Senator Mike Pence (D-IN)
Communications Director Hillary Clinton (D-AR)

The Democratic Primary was never in doubt. Vice President Schweitzer was first with two opponents, one, Senator Pence who wanted to turn the party rightward, and Communications Director Hillary Clinton who wanted to turn it leftward. After Pence’s shock victory in Iowa, President Rick Perry committed a taboo and endorsed Schweitzer before New Hampshire. Schweitzer’s inevitably become accepted by a lot more people, with Clinton and Pence winning token victories. Schweitzer chose Senator Tim Kaine as his running mate

The Constitution Primary:
genusmap.php

Columnist Andrew Breitbart (C-CA)
Senator Ted Cruz (C-TX)
Constitution House Leader Scott Walker (C-WI)

Walker and Cruz were tied before Andrew Breitbart led an insurgent run for the Constitution party nomination. His attacks on the moderate Walker and Fireband Cruz led to a landslide. Breitbart chose Senator Mike Lee as his running mate

The Liberty & Justice Primary:
genusmap.php

Former Governor Gary Johnson (LJ-NM)
Congressman Rand Paul (LJ-TX)

Gary Johnson not only ran in the Republican primaries, but in the Liberty & Justice primaries as well! However, Congressman Rand Paul led an anti-Johnson and anti-GOP campaign, but ultimately fell flat, as not only did Johnson ruin him in the debates, but the fact that he is tied to controversial half-nominee Ron Paul, who endorsed and campaigned for him. In an olive branch initiative, Johnson chose Rand Paul as his running mate

The Alliance Primary:
genusmap.php

Bernie Sanders (A-VT)
Elizabeth Warren (A-MA)
Jack Evans (A-DC)

The Alliance party was founded out of disgust for Hubert Humphrey’s nomination in 1968. Now, it has become the party of the New Left. Bernie Sanders, with an alliance of young people and white males, won the primaries in a landslide against the moderate Elizabeth Warren, who won the South with a coalition of blacks and moderates and the DC statehood activist and Washington DC Mayor Jack Evans. Bernie Sanders chose Alliance House Leader Raul Grijalva as his running mate

Anderson Cooper: Man that was a mouthful! Anyways, the first results from Indiana are coming in

How successful are these third/fourth/fifth parties? Is it a maybe-one-state type of thing, or do they get within single-digit percentages of the major parties?
