The road back to power: A TL from 1931

The POD for this timeline is that Labour did better in the October 1931 UK general election with 79 seats instead of 52 in OTL. These cabinet ministers in the former Labour government saved their seats in this TL, but not in OTL:
William Adamson [Fife West, Secretary of State for Scotland]
Albert Victor Alexander [Sheffield Hillsborough, First Lord of the Admiralty] (1)
William Graham [Edinburgh Central, President of the Board of Trade].

After the election Arthur Henderson continued to be leader of the Labour Party, but Alexander became leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party with Graham as deputy leader. Graham died on 8 January 1932 and George Lansbury became deputy leader. Henderson resigned as leader in October 1932 and was succeeded by Alexander.

Also Ernest Bevin was re-elected as Labour MP for Gateshead in the general election, which he had won in a by-election on 8 June 1931.

Events happened as in OTL until October 1935 when Lansbury resigned as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party because he opposed the policy of Alexander and the majority of the party of support for League of Nations sanctions against Italy, because of its invasion of Abyssinia.

In the general election on 14 November 1935, Labour increased the number of its MPs to 240. But the National Government still had 336 MPs to 279 for other parties and Independents, making an overall majority of 57.
