There are sooooooooooo many problems with this:

1) It is impossible for Mondale to get 562 EVs, as the Electoral College only goes up to 538.
2) There is no way in the world Mondale gets 58% and 500 electoral votes. Reagan would literally have to shoot someone for an electoral disaster like that, as it’s extremely unrealistic.
3) Jesse Jackson has no foreign policy experience, and would never be picked to be SoS.
4)You have not said a single thing to give reason to how this happened, or a POD.

This whole thing is highly unrealistic, and is borderline ASB.

You only gave Reagan just 13 electoral votes. I am sorry but I don't like that you only just flipped the results of the real 1984 election. It feels sloppy and unbelievable. An incumbent president no matter how unpopular would get more electoral votes (EV) than this and more states than just two. Reagan would still have gotten a number of EVs from the Deep South especially when he is competing with a Midwestern liberal. In fact, here are the EVs and vote percentages from presidential incumbents who lost their elections:
  • 1888 - Cleveland: 168 EV (48.6%)
  • 1892 - Harrison: 145 EV (43%)
  • 1912 - Taft: 8 EV (23%)
  • 1932 - Hoover: 59 EV (39.7%)
  • 1976 - Ford: 240 EV (48%)
  • 1980 - Carter: 49 EV (41%)
  • 1992 - Bush: 168 EV (37.4%)
As you can see, most losing incumbents receive a minimum of 49 EVs. The sole exception to this was in 1912 when Taft just got 8 EVs, but that was also a three way race where both Roosevelt and Wilson were taking away votes from Taft. In 1932, Hoover was badly beaten by FDR but still held on to some Republican bastions in New England. In 1980, Carter lost badly against Reagan but still kept a portion of the Democratic South. Despite their landslide defeats, both Hoover and Carter still carried six states. The point is that a losing challenger is very different from a losing incumbent. In my opinion, challengers have a much harder time crushing an incumbent no matter how unpopular, and incumbents do not suffer as much of an absolute defeat as a challenger can. Any president will always have a base of loyal supporters who will stick with him no matter what. So if Hoover and Carter with all their failings can still get at least 49 EVs, don't you think Reagan could too?

The Jesse Jackson thing was a joke

Still, without the Jackson thing this is borderline ASB. If Reagan were to (impossibly) lose, he’d do it with north of 125-150 EVs. No way he goes as low as 13 EVs. And even with Reagan’s health issues, He would not get to 13 EVs.

Overall, it just seems like attempt to write a TL where the impossible happens. I suggest you do research to make your TL more realistic and credible, because if not it’s coming very close to being in the ASB forum.

You've been posting these half-baked ideas across all four of your accounts for a few weeks, but you haven't put enough thought or detail into any of them to generate any actual discussion. You need to actually put some effort into your posts here and not just use the board as a scratch pad.
