The revolt of the generals

In OTL a desicion was made to give the ariforce money for the B-36 and cut out the USS United States, with this failure only Essex class carriers were ready by Korea and the supercarrier Forrestal took to 1954 to finish, what would it take to get ships like the United States and other navy projects to come to fruitition and what effect would it have? Would the Air Force Generals leave?

The superiority of the USN and allies over any possible combination of sea power is such that ther really isnt any need to bring forward the new carriers.
There were good reasons for delay, based on modifying the designs for the jet era. If anything they were ready early, the USN still hadnt absorbed all the new data in the designs.
So why on earth try and build them sooner? The USN simply isnt going to push for this.

Generals dont resign over a different service getting more cash, they stay and try and wriggle more dollars in their direction
