“I am Wolf Blitzer and we are in the CNN Election Center with the best political team on television. The polls in the last states are closing, and the results of tonight's presidential election are obvious. Jimmy McMillan has defeated Senator Barack Obama and is going to be the forty-fourth president of the United States, and his running mate Alan Keyes is going to be our next vice president."
Blitzer: "This possibility could never have been foreseen a year ago. I don't think anyone projected this kind of ludicrous outcome. Neither Jimmy McMillan nor Alan Keyes were considered important political figures. I think Donna Brazile, Democratic Party political analyst could agree, right Donna?"
Brazile: "Wolf, this is just crazy. I for one am just astounded. Frankly, this is the most stunning presidential election in United States history. Indeed, there are many people (myself not included, of course) who believe that McMillan rigged the election."
John King: "There are indeed many people who think so, but whatever the validity of this election, these will certainly be a very, very, interesting upcoming four years. This also a truly historic occasion: both the president and the vice-president were African-American, as well as their opponent."
Blitzer: "Meanwhile, the Dems have won 225 seats in the House, and the Republicans have won 201. Results have not yet come in for the remaining nine. As for the Senate, it looks like it will be split 53-47."
Brazile: "Now we're going to wait for President-elect McMillan to deliver his victory speech."
8:00 PM EST, New York City: President-Elect Jimmy McMillan
"Good evening, residents of New York City.
"You cannot fathom how proud I am to be here tonight, in this great country, speaking to you great people, about the miracle that has just happened.
"America is the land where dreams really do come true. Immigrants from across the Earth have traveled here to build a better life for themselves and for their families... but they cannot realize their dreams if they can't afford basic housing. That's why the first thing I'm going to do as President is to reform rental rates and ensure affordable rent for the struggling poor families in America.
"...Thank you very much for supporting me in my quest to aid the greatest nation on Earth. God bless you, and God bless the USA!"
Senator Barack Obama delivered his concession speech shortly after. Experts said that his speech was relatively poor by Obama's own standards, and gave hints of being badly rehearsed and hinting of embarrassment. Still, Barack Obama was known as being a good orator and his performance was not very poor. In any case, McMillan's speech had some controversial elements and was decidedly unprofessional.
None of this could change the fact that Jimmy McMillan, the activist and perennial candidate from New York, had somehow managed to win the Republican nomination and became President of the United States.
