How sucessful do you think a soicialist/communist uprising in Scotland and the rest of the UK could be?

The POD would be a much more class-based and militant approach to the strikes and rallies in Glasgow during the 1910's leading up to a confrontation with English troops in George Square in January 1919. Possibly some accidental deaths (the way these things usually end up) and possibly photographs of the unarmed (Well possibly knives...it IS Glasgow) civilians going up against English guns and tanks in the newspapers. Add into that some small rumblings of nationalism (Brave Scottish boys being butchered by the English. Culloden mentioned a few times etc). Maybe a royal visit to Scotland (edinburgh or aberdeenshire - near enough to panic far away enough for no harm) cut short and the royal family hurridly on the train/boat back to London. Maybe more sympathy strikes in Newcastle, Liverpool etc also poorly handled. More deaths. The Russians start blaring out support for their comrades as the news spreads. Emboldens the uprisings in Germany. If riots happen in London, the royals (Still on Brittania) are diverted to Canada, much to the displeasure of the King.

The idea forming in my head was of a Socialist Britain, associated with but still independant of the USSR. A more right wing Germany as the uprisings there are larger but still fail. France more right wing and becomingcloser to her Teutonic neighbour for protection. Spain bolstered by intervention by the USSR and Britain remains in the hands of the Republicans and the Left.

The royal family is in exile in Canada. I have no idea what to do about the colonies and India. Although I'd assume India would jump at the chance for independance but with massive problems over the Pakistan/East Pakistan areas =/ Africa no idea maybe the British Empire controlled by Canada and the dominions or a imperial parliament set up instead.

What do you think? Sometimes my thoughts become romanticised and ASBish but one can dream =p
