Okay, so a lot of you have probably heard of English Civil War veteran, Puritan, and author, John Bunyan. He wrote The Pilgrim's Progress in 1678, while in the Bedfordshire jail for violating the Conventicle Act. He always said the story came to him in "the similitude of a dream." That story became the second most popular book after the Bible for a couple centuries.

So, let's have some fun: John Bunyan "receives Revelations from God" in 1678, in a dream. He publishes all kinds of whacky prophecies and writes his own "New Testament," with the real New Testament becoming the "Middle Testament."

What happens?

And yes, I have read Pilgrim's Progress, and I dare you to, too. It is absolute Hell reading that relic. :p

EDIT: And before anyone responds, yes, he would probably just be regarded as a crackpot, but let's have some fun! :D

Here's something I came up with:

Bunyan declares himself the Chief Servant of the Lord in front of the jailers and other prisoners following waking up one morning in 1678. He preaches up such a storm that several of the irreligious convicts believe him.

For several months, he continues preaching, until he converts a guard who then helps him escape.

Bunyan traipses across the English countryside, stirring up all manner of unrest.

He creates a discipleship in Bedford, where many of the citizens begin to follow him, amazed by his words.

He publishes the New Testament, chronicling "New Revelations gived to me by thy Lord." In it, he says God gave him all kinds of secret knowledge and took him to the Celestial City for the entire night. He says God is mobilizing his forces for the Final Battle of Megiddo, and that all of Bunyan's followers must fight to bring about a modern Zion in London.

Just thinking out loud here. :p
