The People's Flag: A History of the Union of Britain, 1925-2010

That would be an interesting twist on the KR story - the nationalists come to power in Germany and become expansionist, and just like OTL WWII the democratic USA finds itself allied with the Reds in order to defeat Germany.

Another thought that occurs to me in that sort of scenario is that relations between the Allied powers would be way more rocky than in OTL. At least in OTL WWII the American generals did not have to liase directly with Zhukov or Konev until very late in the late (can you imagine what would happen if Zhukov and Patton got into an argument, :)eek:) we might as well tell their men to shoot themselves.

When you think about the upcoming war, it raises some interesting questions. For starters with the main stage being the Low Countries - Western Germany, unless the Second Reich collapses quite quickly, it will be interesting to see what tactics are employed by both sides and how warfare will evolve.

We could even see the battleship remain queen of the seas if most of the main naval engagements are confined to the North Sea. Unless there is some sort of Pacific War which sees Japan move into South East Asia/China with Germany distracted in Europe and their primary weapon is the aircraft carrier.

Then there's Russia. It would be an interesting development to see Syndicalist Western Europe locked in a cold war with a capitalist (albeit authoritarian) Eastern Europe dominated by Russia, Japan dominating the Pacifc.

What's happening in Beria's Georgia in TTL?:)

Sorry comrades. I've had severe writer's block for this next update for months now. It's been about 40% done since October. I will do my utmost to rectify that. Thanks to those who voted for it again this year.

In Darkest Hour it's really easy to manipulate a war in your favour, if you give alot of resources to France they can hold. If they got Spain and Italy, or if Russia opens a second front, Germany will fall.

Anyway I hope someone does another of these soon.

After almost a decade, I'm delighted to announce - for those who haven't heard on the grapevine yet - that The People's Flag is now available from Sea Lion Press.

It contains re-edited versions of the chapters in this thread, plus a sneak preview of the next book, which I'll be working on if it proves a success: chapter one of Volume III, the Second Great War.

Its amazing cover is by @Lord Roem, and I'm thrilled by the level of interest from KR fans old and new. You can buy it in ebook and paperback formats here.
