The Ottoman War Aims in WW1

The Ottomans primary objective was to regain the territory in Eastern Anatolia it'd lost in the Russo-Turkish War of 1878.

Enver Pasha himself had some more grandiose secondary goals if the war was won, specifically removing Caucasia, Central Asia and India from European influence and building an alliance and cooperative system between the to be created Turkic states.

Well, simply put, what were the war aims of the Ottoman Empire in the First World War? I have wondered this often.

Everything about the Ottoman Empires entry into WW1 is very unclear, or open to several interpretations. The decision making process was strange, the internal conflicts among the leadership huge and the power shifted between different cliques at a almost day-to-day basis.

I have heard that the OE was on the brink of bankrupcy, and Germany simply offered to give a huge loan (on top of the huge loans to build the Berlin-Baghdad railrod) to save OE. Together with resentment after the british sizure of the battleships and traditional rivalty with Russia it simply became enough.

The Ottoman Empire was seeking to establish normalized relations between itself and the rest of the world, while at the same time preserving its territorial integrity. The three main inputs were that (1) the Germans and Austrians were willing to treat the Porte as a 'normal' Power, (2) the Russians were incorrigibly aggressive towards the Ottomans and (3) the British would not break with the Russians.

Other things they were probably wanting to see changed would be the various Capitulations the Empire had signed over the years gotten rid of, France and Russia's positions of being protectors of Orthodox and Catholic Christians respectively in the Empire cancelled, and their debts to the Allied powers - along with the associated Ottoman Public Debt Administration - written off. Regaining Cyprus from the British along with the other limited territorial aspirations yourworstnightmare could also be likely, I don't think they would realistically expect the return of Egypt though.
