The One Great European War 1914-1989.

It's often said that WW2 was merely a continuation of WW1 with a dramatic truce of a few years in between. Is it possible to take the neat 75 year period from the start of WW1 to the end of Stallinism in Europe in 1989 and perceive that as the actual European theatre of a World War? I view the European theatre as quite simply , The War For Civilisation and the other theatres as nothing substantially more than battles between colonial powers!

In my view WW2 in all theatres was simultaneously the war for civilisation and a dirty imperialist knife-fight because of Complicated History, but certainly it's not very nice to accuse the only definitely non-imperial power, China, or being 'imperialists' in their national self-defence battle.

Anyway, the idea that WW1 and WW2 were the same war is misconceived to start with.
