The Official What-If Comic Character List

Sweet mother! All the heroes are being taken!

On a side note, here's a handy link for reference;

Bullseye

A notorious bandit hailing either from Ireland, Northern Ireland, or New Ireland. He is rather fond of throwing things dead center (i.e. knives) and is considered to be a headache for every law enforcement agency in the world, with the exception of Irish police forces where he passes himself as a super-hero in those cities (i.e. Boston, Cork, Limerick, etc.). He has been hired out by Kingpin and has been thrown against Daredevil, Luke Cage, and so on down the list. He is described as somewhat crazy. Most unfortunately, he was captured by Luke Cage in one of the numerous incidents involving the "Ace Attorney" (as well as Karen Page/Black Widow) and has been thrown in prison.

UPDATE: He has since escaped by unknown means. He can be spotted by his black leotard with a bullseye on his forehead or by a black leather jacket. Bullseye does go by very common Irish names and has the tendency to hang around in Irish cities due to the above tendency to "protect" them. Any non-Irish law enforcement agencies are warned to bring SHIELD/Stark Industries representatives.

Bloody Mary
aka Typhoid Mary

Considered to be the most catastrophic of Kingpin's own nefarious deeds in contesting the breath of New York with Daredevil, Typhoid Mary was once a member of the infamous Hellfire Club Brothel in Brooklyn, and nabbed when she illustrated an uncanny knack of super strength and psychic blasts. Many medical professionals attribute this to one of the numerous fights involving brothels and point out that she has displayed overt split personality problems. Her past escapades have proven that she is a worthy opponent of any and all super heroes that cross her path. However, this came to an end due to the Kingpin's attempt in hijacking the law (see; Murdock v. Kingpin) with the partnership of Luke Cage/Dakota North/Venom (iii) sending her to a "safe mental facility".

As of late, Typhoid Mary has been cured, and has been going by the name of Mary White on the soap opera "West Broadstreet". She has shown no symptoms of her previous illness and several statements have been issued that she is to not be trifled with on her past history.

Kingpin

A crime-lord and war-lord of the highest extreme. Based in Newark, New Jersey, Kingpin is known for his brute physical strength that only has been matched by the Hulk and other super strength heroes. He has no super powers but is attributed to the brutal death of his predecessor, Harry Blount ("the Owl"), the entire Brooklyn Syndicate, the Chicago branch of HYDRA, the the creation of the Sinister Six (the third incarnation), the ascendancy of Hammerhead, Silvermain, Typhoid Mary, the attempted murder of J. Jonah Jameson, the assault on James Jameson, the instigator of the Osbourne/Stark rivalry (never proven), the brazen hijacking of one SHIELD carrier (disputed), and so on.

Kingpin is described as a very large black man, bald, and fond of designer suits. He always carries a cigar and cane (for show). He is responsible for many deaths and served time. Many state that the Kingpin is untouchable and SHIELD regards him as Enemy No. 1, if they had diversified into the domestic scene.

Osbourne Technologies

Rival to Stark Industries. They are not highly regarded by the current Administration nor anyone else for that matter. They have been attributed to several deaths and creations of super villains. It is currently being run by Tombstone, a known affiliate of Daredevil, and is in a middle of a "feud" involving USAgent/Luke Cage/Kingpin/SHIELD.

Sabertooth
aka Victor Creed

His criminal history is too long to account here.

He is described as a "poor-man's" version of Wolverine (Herald of Galactus) to the point that if he were to gain power as a Herald, the world would be doomed. Thankfully, he is serving with the X-men, but no-one knows when he will break that status.

His uniform is either shades of yellow with bits of fur on the shoulders/ends of his limbs with clawed gloves (it is not known if the claws are from his actual hands) or the current solid yellow leotard with black shoulder pads.

Sabertooth is prohibited from ever entering Canada. He does have a daughter by the name of Clarice Sterling (Blink). More about her can be detailed in her biography.

Original X-men

Professor X
Charles Francis Xavier was born in New York City to the wealthy Brian Xavier, a well-respected nuclear scientist, and Sharon Xavier. After Brian died in an accident, his science partner Kurt Marko comforts and attempts to marry the grieving Sharon. When Xavier's telepathic mutant powers emerge, he discovers Kurt cares only about Sharon's money. Telling his mother such things she turns Kurt down, and devotes all her time to raising her son Charles.

With help from his powers and his natural genius, Xavier becomes an excellent student and athlete, though he gives up the latter, believing his powers give him an unfair advantage. He graduates with honors at the age of 16 from Harvard University.

In graduate studies he receives Ph.D.s in Genetics, Biophysics, and Psychology and does a two year residence at Oxford University. He is later appointed Adjunct Professor at Columbia University.

At graduate school, he meets a Scottish girl named Moira Kinross, a fellow genetics student with whom he falls in love. The two agree to get married, but soon, Xavier is drafted into the Vietnam War. During the war, he receives a letter from Moira telling him that she is breaking up with him. He later discovers that Moira married her old boyfriend Joseph MacTaggert, who abuses her.

Deeply depressed when Moira broke off their engagement without explanation, Xavier began traveling around the world after leaving the army. In his travels in the east, Xavier learned martial arts, acquiring "refined combat skills" according to Magneto. When these skills are coordinated in tandem with his telepathic abilities, Xavier becomes capable of sensing the intentions of others and countering them efficiently. He also has great knowledge of pressure points. When Charles served in the military, he specialized in search and rescue missions.

Xavier visits his friend Daniel Shomron, who runs a clinic for traumatized Holocaust victims in Haifa, Israel. There, he meets the man who becomes Magneto, a Holocaust survivor who works as a volunteer in the clinic, and Gabrielle Haller, a woman driven into a catatonic coma by the trauma she experienced. Xavier uses his mental powers to break her out of her catatonia and the two fall in love. Xavier and Magneto become good friends, although neither immediately reveals to the other that he is a mutant.

The two hold lengthy debates hypothesizing what will happen if humanity is faced with a new super-powered race of humans. While Xavier is optimistic, Magneto's experiences in the Holocaust lead him to believe that humanity will ultimately oppress the new race of humans as they have done with other minorities.

The two friends reveal their powers to each other when they fight Nazi Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and his HYDRA agents, who kidnap Gabrielle because she knows the location of their secret cache of gold. Magneto attempts to kill Strucker but Xavier stops him. Realizing that his and Xavier's views on mutant-human relations are incompatible, Magneto leaves with the gold.

This encounter leads to Xavier's decision to devote his life to protecting humanity from evil mutants and safeguarding innocent mutants from human oppression. Xavier decided to form the X-men from then on.

Toad
Mortimer Toynbee was born in York, England and was quickly abandoned by his parents and spent many years in an orphanage, where he was constantly tormented by other children due to his ugliness and strangely shaped body (as his mutant appearance was present from birth). He was considered to be mentally inferior due to his extreme shyness and mild learning disabilities during his primary school years, though he was actually quite intelligent. He dropped out at an extremely early age and decided to fend for himself. As he grew up however the more radical aspects of his body became less noticable, except for his eight foot long tongue.

While in London Toynbee stole some food and was chased down by local teenagers. Charles Xavier witnessed this attack, and tried to save the boy only to witness him leap into the air and out of harms way. Afterwards the two met, and while Mortimer tried to run, Xavier convinced the boy he meant him no harm. Asking his name the boy replied, "Toad."

Toad was quick to join the Professor, and went along Europe with him. He was quickly stricken with Wanda Maximoff, and did his best to be friends with Pietro. As time went on Toad discovered his keen mind, while not on par with most, made him a very good leader.

Toad was the first leader of the X-men.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

Wanda Maximoff is the fraternal twin sister of Pietro Maximoff; the twins are the children of Magneto and his late wife Magda. Magda fled from Magneto before either learned that she was pregnant. The twins were born on Mt. Wundagore of Transia, Chthon. Chthon's residual energies altered Wanda, giving her the ability to use magic, in addition to her mutant power. Magda survived giving birth to the twins but days after left with her children. She feared that Magneto would locate her and force her to surrender the children to him. She instead fled, and is believed to have chosen to commit suicide by exposing herself to the frozen wasteland surrounding the refuge.

An orphanage found a suitable pair of foster parents in the Roma couple Django and Marya Maximoff. Their own children Ana and Mateo had recently died and the couple saw little Wanda and Pietro as suitable replacements. They would raise them as their own. Both siblings manifested powers due to mutation in early adolescence. The Roma were however victims of prejudice by the mainstream population of Transia who considered them immoral.

Django was a doll-maker but had increasing difficulty in finding customers as Transians did not allow their children to approach the Roma. He eventually resorted to stealing food in order to save his family from starvation. It was aroudn this time that Pietro and Wanda discovered that they are mutants. Pietro discovers he possesses superhuman speed, while Wanda learns that she can control probability. Pietro took the initiative to also start stealing food. Wanda was also introduced to prejudice when a Transian boy her age attempted to sexually molest her. She used her powers to return to safety but was accused of attempting to seduce the boy. Eventually, angry Transian villagers attacked the Roma and burned their wagons. Marya Maximoff was trapped in their wagon and burned alive. Django was clubbed to unconsciousness, but Pietro and Wanda managed to flee. The twins were now on their own.

Fearing for their safety the Maximoff's sought out any to safely watch over them. They headed out to Western Europe, hoping to find a way to making a living under a less repressive atmoshpere. One day while heading through Italy, Wanda accidentally caused a fire with her hex powers and was almost killed by an angry mob who thought she was a witch. A man rushed out and saved her and Pietro from the mob. The man was Charles Xavier. He broguht them to America with him and another young boy who went by Toad.

At the school, they where quick to take to the relaxed, and easy life. Toad was always near by and while at first Pietro was overly protective of Wanda, he soon saw the other mutant as a friend. Time with Xavier taught Wanda how to control her powers, while Pietro took to studying reading the entire library of the X-mansion in a week.

Angel
Warren Worthington III was born in Centerport, New York to Kathryn Worthington and Warren Worthington Jr. He was attending a private school in his adolescence when white, feathered wings began to grow from his shoulder blades. At first Warren felt he was a freak, but he soon learned that he could use his wings to fly and to help people. When there was a fire in his dormitory, he borrowed some props from the school's drama department, dressed up as a "heavenly" angel and rescued his friends. He soon learned that he in fact is a mutant. He donned a mask and costume and called himself the Avenging Angel and was a solo adventurer originally.

He then began attending the Xavier School For Gifted Youngsters, where Professor Charles Xavier trained young mutants to control their powers and use them for good. Taking the code name Angel, Worthington became one of the original members of the superhero team the X-Men.

Beast
Henry Philip McCoy was born in Dunfee, Illinois, in the United States, to Norton and Edna McCoy. His father, Norton McCoy, was employed at a local nuclear power plant before McCoy's birth and was once exposed to intense nuclear radiation which appears to have caused his son's mutation. Hank was born with a vast intellect and unusually large hands and feet for a human; in fact, his body's proportions were comparable to those of a gorilla and later stories reveal his nickname in school was "Magilla Gorilla".

Henry's mutation more fully manifests during adolescence, providing greater strength and agility, and although his powers allow him to briefly excel in athletics during his remaining time at school, he soon attracts the animosity of his fellow students and other non-mutant humans. As he seeks refuge, he is approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who invites him to study at "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters".

Henry recognizes the opportunities that such an institution can afford him and accepts the offer. He finds the school both a font of scientific knowledge and a place of sanctuary and is there introduced to the X-Men, who accept him into their ranks and give him the codename Beast.

Alongside workouts in the Danger Room, he studies subjects ranging from differential equations to Proust under Xavier's tutelage. His best friend is Toad, who is perhaps the only team member as athletic as he.

John Howlett Sr. is Wolverine's father. John Howlett Jr. is his older brother.
Wolverine is James Howlett. So the one twin can be John.

Even better, John Howlett is the older brother, and is made into the Project Sentinel Wolverine, without the insane rage. But with a cold, calculating demeanor that makes him even nastier.

Also lets remeber how the X-men comics work, you are a villian one day and a hero later. So it easily could work with Jean Grey both being a hero and a villian. Like how Quicksilver was.

True. The list is just to keep track of what's been done so far and her status - as well as those other X-men - can be changed at any given notice.

Death

Clarice Ferguson nicknamed "Blink" was orphaned at an early age, when both her parents were lost in a car accident. She was sent to live in a Catholic orphanage in Miami, Florida. She hated the orphanage, as she was constantly harassed by the other students, for having lived a life of privilege. Becoming a cast-out, Blink started committing crimes in order to impress the rest of the children. She became a proficient shoplifter, then pickpocket, and a decent burglar as the years advanced.

When her mutant power manifested and she was able to teleport through matter, she became one of the greatest thieves in Miami. However, she never robbed from places that would carry a federal sentencing, such as banks, and goverment facilities. She quickly came to the attention of the Kingpin in New York, who attempted to recruit Blink from her life of petty crime in Miami, to work for him in New York. Blink declined the offer, instead she fled to Los Angeles, where she learned of a group of mutants working for a coorporation to improve mutant rights and lives. Blink readily joined with the Akkaba Corporation, using her powers to infilitrate and sabotage anti-mutant companies, and to steal from the homes and businesses of anti-mutant people. She was nearly caught one night, and was only able to escape through sheer luck, due to her relative inability at combat.

The next evening she was brought before the head of the Akkaba corporation, a tall dark stranger who introduced himself as a Mr. Nur, he told her that he was recruiting for an even more elite team called the "Four Horsemen" and she would be known as Death.

Over the next several weeks, Blink was placed in Apocalypse's transformation chamber, and was slowly and painfully turned into the Horsemen of Death and she continues to serve Apocalypse to this day.

I've mentionned Ororoe Munro being partner to gambit in crime (maybe they could be on the turf of Matt Murdock and be competitor)

So Sinister and Apocalypse seem both to exist any divergence to them

and Overal POD could be the coming of galactus in 1880

Agent Dugan, SHIELD

Regarded as the second hand man to Nick Fury, he is a veteran of WWII as well as the Korean War, with his trademark sideburns and bowler hat being the signifier of his presence. He does not have superpowers but he does have a strong experience with super heroes/villains/HYDRA. It is rumored that the current Madam Hydra was associated with him due a strange picture/relationship the two have whenever their two organizations clash.

Iron Fist

An unknown hero hailing from Tibet or other regions East. He is known for his iron fist of doom, capability of flying, and well versed bag of martial arts. No-one really knows where he came from; just simply that he appeared in San Fransisco as their vigilant symbol of justice. He is more known for his yellow bandanna, disco suit style leotard, and a hawk type design on his chest. He has come into conflict with Pestilence due to the incident involving SHIELD and Osbourne Technologies.

Morph

A very successful children's show host and the first ever to be of mutant power. He is based in Portland, Maine, and tends to be well versed with pop culture. As for the current mutant crisis/issue, Morph is often quoted as stating "no comment" when asked about it. He has been linked with the Silver Samurai, Jubilee (another mutant celebrity), and Clarice Sterling - although she is rumored to have been his love interest. Morph is instantly spotted by his white pasty skin and ability to morph into anything he wishes to be (ala Mystique).

Black Cat or Death

Katherine "Kitty" Pryde was orphaned at an early age, when both her parents were lost in a car accident. She was sent to live in a Catholic orphanage in Chicago, Illinois. She hated the orphanage, as she was constantly harassed by the other students, for having lived a life of privilege. Becoming a cast-out, Kitty started committing crimes in order to impress the rest of the children. She became a proficient shoplifter, then pickpocket, and a decent burglar as the years advanced.

When her mutant power manifested and she was able to phase through matter, she became one of the greatest thieves in Chicago. However, she never robbed from places that would carry a federal sentencing, such as banks, and goverment facilities. She quickly came to the attention of the Kingpin in New York, who attempted to recruit Kitty from her life of petty crime in Chicago, to work for him in New York. Kitty declined the offer, instead she fled to Los Angeles, where she learned of a group of mutants working for a coorporation to improve mutant rights and lives. Err, I already wrote one for Kitty on an earlier page.

He does have a daughter by the name of Clarice Sterling (Blink).

I think I might write something up for Blink here. She's a character in The New X-Men, and it might be hard coming up with something new. And I'll refuse to do the obvious (X-23) if only because I don't want to become a self-parody.

What about Deadpool?

Do Deadpool, I love Blink, I was thinking about making the Death I just made Blink instead, how bout that?

I'll see about Deadpool, and I'd like to see what you have in store for Blink. Making her a Herald of Apocolypse would be rather interesting since she is a descendant of him. Has anybody done Nightcrawler yet?

Nope, I put him up on the X-Men, I wanted to see how people would make his backstory, since I gave him Mystique's last name.

As for Blink, I was gonna replace everything for Kitty for Blink, change it Miami, FL instead of Chicago, and boom there ya go, which I fixed in my previous post, which is now about Blink.

Ah, yes. Of course the pink skin would make her more obvious. In The New X-Men, I have her as Clarice Fernandez, the daughter of Cuban refugees and is highly involved in drug trafficing.

Here's Deadpool. I borrowed rather heavily from Deathstroke's background, including the underaged affair. I'll be doing Domino and William Stryker next.

Deadpool (Wade Wilson)

Born into a poor family in New York City, Wade Wilson was never a particularly smart, talented, or well liked child. His father was abusive and an alcoholic, and his mother died at an early age from cancer. But he did have one talent—he became one of the best youth boxers in New York City and dropped out of high school to join the professional circuit.

With his career stalling out, Wade joined a private military contractor, which was a subsidiary of Akkaba Corporation. After rather distinguished service, he was tabbed for ‘special services’ and was experimented on to become a superhuman. When the experiment seemingly failed, Wade left and settled down marrying and having a son, Joseph.

Several years later, Joseph was kidnapped. Refusing to hand over any and all secrets Wade still had, he attacked and killed the kidnappers at the rendezvous point. However, Joseph was wounded and when he died in the hospital, Wade’s wife (who was a former soldier) tried to kill Wade. Instead, she only shot him in the eye. It was then that his powers surfaced.

Leaving his wife, Wade returned to his roots and became a freelance assassin/mercenary. However, he became an enemy of the X-Men (for reasons known only to Xavier and Wade himself). He used the young girl Neena Thurman (Domino) to infiltrate the X-Men and destroy them (it is rumored that Wade and Neena had an affair, despite her being sixteen).

However, the plot was uncovered and Wade was finally arrested for various charges (murder, extortion, etc.). On the way to the courthouse for the first day of the trial, General William Hannibal Stryker of the National Security Agency sprung Wade and pressed him into service as an assassin.

After several years of this, he was finally able to escape and has become a recurring enemy of the X-Men. However, he has recently been diagnosed with cancer...
