What if at the Battle of Quiberon Bay in 1759 Comte de Conflans adopted an offensive strategy instead of a defensive one and took Sir Edward Hawke by surprise, leading to a French victory. The French proceed with the Invasion of 1759,with help from the Jacobites it is a success, the treaty gives France all French speaking British possessions (including the Channel Islands), and places Charles III on the throne, among other things. The rest of the after Britain's defeat the other countries don't last long before they sue for peace. However, before the American Revolutionary War erupts Great Britain falls into a Civil War because Charles III is Catholic, and France comes to his aid. The war almost bankrupts France, makeing them force a treaty, Charles III becomes king of Scotland, and England becomes separate (not sure if a new Monarchy, return of the Hanover kings, or second Commonwealth yet). The French Revolution still happens on time, though the effects would be drastically different.
