Prologue
In 408, Honorius, Emperor of the West had his general Flavius Stilicho murdered and ordered a pogrom of the barbarians. 30,000 barbarians fled north to the Visigoths, led by their king, Alaric. Alaric demanded better land for his people and invaded Italy. Rome was besieged and for the first time in 800 years began to suffer the miseries of siege. In return for gold and silver, Rome was freed for three days. Roman Senator Attalus persuaded Honorius to agree to peace and returned to Rome a hero.
Point Of Divergence
Honorius, at the behest of his advisor Olympius sent 6,000 troops to Rome. They easily reached Rome( in OTL Alaric massacred them). Alaric returned to Rome but was routed and fled north. There, he vowed to gain a homeland with his sword. The Visigoths advanced into southern Italy, bypassing Rome. At Brundisium, they built a fleet and set sail for Roman Africa.
