The New Order: Last Days of Europe Thread II

Do you think WW2 and the years 1945 to 1962 could've gone even worse for the allies or is canon TNO the worst of all possible worlds with the amount of pixie dust the axis was given?

So, sometime ago @HIM Dogson made an absolutely amazing post about things that can result from a cursed timeline in which Speer managed to consolidate power within the Reich, defeat the resurgent USSR in the Second West Russian War, and actually make reformed National Socialism both a viable and mainstream ideology on the global stage well into the 21st century. With American companies such as film studios in Hollywood having to submit to the demands of the Nazi Film Review Office so that their movies can enter into the lucrative Zollverein market.

Just heard about the following PR nightmare that KFC got themselves into over in Germany.... And that post was the first thing that came to mind:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63499057

Long story short, KFC Germany set their marketing AI on automatic... And it ended up sending an app alert to all users that says, 'It's memorial day for Kristallnacht! Treat yourself with more tender cheese on your crispy chicken. Now at KFCheese!'

.... No joke. KFC's marketing AI somehow managed to dig up the the anniversary of the infamous pogrom against German Jews back in 1938, and tell customers to commemorate the event by ordering cheesy chicken tenders.

In the context of the TNO world of a triumphant Führer Speer that managed to reform Nazism into the future, I can see something like this happening. But instead of a mistake made by an AI, it would have been an actual attempt made by KFC's marketing team thinking that it would appeal to the German market, similar to infamous 'Special thanks' message to the Turpan Bureau of Public Security that Disney put at the credits of Mulan.

Alternatively, perhaps it can be less 'on the nose', with the promotional message instead be on 'Germany's victory over Bolshevism', telling people to order a KFC bucket to celebrate the anniversary of Germany's victory in the Second West Russian War... Making the backlash somewhat less harsh back in the US.

What's the doylist reason for why Scotland can't join the OFN? My guess is because if England tried to unify the British isles, it would start World War 3 or at least an American intervention. That would be funny to see

If I remember correctly, the lore and situation for Britain will be massively reworked eventually. With Scotland, instead we of being an independent republic, turned into a rump UK that is part of OFN.

And on that note, how would the ECW work, then, with said rework? Scotland/rump UK attempting to invade Collab Britain?

Where did you hear that?

So is it like in Kaisereich with the PSA States where they call themselves the proper United Kingdom but everyone calls them Scotland? Kinda like with the RoC/Taiwan

I remember it being mentioned on the TNO reddit, complete with a screenshot of Scotland being renamed as 'The Kingdom of Scotland'. But besides that, I do not remember much else, nor can I seem to find the post I saw anymore.

I found a post, and that it was mentioned in a dev stream. My current question is if British reunion is now off the table to anyone except the democratic ones

Just spreading the Dengist copypasta

I can't fucking take it. I see a story of a dictatorship going through economic reform and then I see it, I fucking see it. "Oh that’s kinda like Dengist Speer" it started as. That's funny, that's a cool reference. But I kept going, I'd see Yagoda that looked like Dengist Speer, I'd see Zhukov that looked like Dengist Speer, I'd see Bormann that looked like Dengist Speer. And every time I'd burst into an insane, breath deprived laugh staring at the image as the words DENGIST ran through my head. It's torment, psychological torture, I am being conditioned to laugh maniacly any time I see a dictatorship reform the economy. I can't fucking live like this... I can't I can't I can't I can't I can't! And don't get me fucking started on the words! I'll never hear the word Dengism again without thinking of Dengist Speer. Someone reforms the economy and I can't say anything other than "Dengist.” I could watch the entire fucking economy crash and all I would be able to say is "Dengism" and laugh like a fucking insane person. And the name "Deng" is ruined. The phrase "Dengism" is ruined. I can't live anymore. Dengist Speer has destroyed my fucking life. I want Himmler to end the world already. MAKE IT STOP!

Dengism has become a byword for "dialing back the worst excesses of a failing ideological system while introducing free-market reforms so as to ensure a long-term survival to the regime".
Which is also known as... being a moderate. Yeah, I know, isn't that crazy ?

Dengist Speer is, as I’ve been led to understand, arguably WORSE than Bormann or Heydrich/Himmler for the world at large because it means that Nazism is merely dialed back to be made more “presentable”. It gives Speer insidious ways to influence other countries by portraying Nazism as sufficiently repentant, when in actuality it’s evil is a lot more subtle. The former slaves are still on the bottom rungs of society, and expected to pay for the machinery of repression. The German is still monitored and watched, its just that speaking out will only get you a lengthy prison sentence rather than a bullet to the brainpan. The Coalition of Nations can be used as a tool to subtly spread Nazi beliefs across the world. All of this is now supported by an economy that is actually functional somewhat. That’s what’s bad about Dengist Speer.

Were there any opportunities for the allies to win the war in universe? I do not imagine it going the same way in our timeline because it's a different WW2 than in our timeline. The only one I can think of is America not surrendering, but I wonder if there are other potential PoDs

Tbh I would consider "nuclear SS warlords" a considerably worse outcome than "relatively stable and prosperous Europe but the Nazis maybe win a moral victory."
