She would throw money at them until someone gave in.

More seriously, Thatcher's Britain would almost certainly be aided in some form by the US.
Yeah. Unless the US still retains some of that geopolitical smoothbrained thinking that JFK's father's administration had been afflicted with in the lore, to help make the Axis victory in WW2 happen.

Also, the government still being filthy collabs would be...pretty moot in the event of a second German invasion. Would it not?

@Baron Steakpuncher are the collabs closer to the ROA as someone who was forced to collaborate, or closer to the white army officers who volunteered to do so?
Neither is really accurate as all involved in both examples did choose to collaborate on some scale.

The Collabs work with the Germans by choice, but their justification is that if they don't work with the Germans, the Germans will turn England into a RK or worse.

None were forced at gunpoint to join the Collaborationist government, but that doesn't mean there isn't an element of coercion in its existence.

Something Baron Steakpuncher said is that Thatcher has the greatest presence among british leaders, and that she can make the UK have the same status as OTL instead of something akin to Belgium.

So I wonder how she would react to the attachè telling her that...
If England manages to hold off the Germany invasion for long enough until Goering's Ponzi scheme economy collapses, every leader will get their own unique quote in their victory event:

Collabs:
Thatcher:
Protected by a woman with the heart and stomach of a king.
Macmillan: Macmillan promised "never again," and his word was good.
Maudling: Maudling had proven himself in the toughest task.

HMMLR:
Jellicoe:
Once again, a Jellicoe stood in the gap and saved England.
Wilson: And Wilson had kept the flag flying throughout it all.

Also of note is that the victory event for HMMLR is a lot more somber, lamenting the tremendous cost that England paid in beating back the Germans, but celebrating the fact that in the end, it was England that stopped Goring's plans for world domination when the rest of the world were either unable to do so, or have written England off as doomed.... For the Collabs, however, the victory event was much more triumphant, declaring that England had purchased the right to be a nation worthy of a great power's respect once again.

So, in the case of Thatcher, if England was able to beat back Sealion II under her watch, the fact that OFN refused to aid England directly would only add to her well of political capital, in saying that it was only under her leadership as the 'Iron Lady' that England was able to beat back the Germans, without needing the help from those damn Yanks!

So, the Collabs (in the sense of people like Maudling, Douglas-Home, Macmillan, and Thatcher) argue that they are protecting England from either direct German rule or rule by more radical men (I'm looking at you, Chesterton) via collaborating?

It does make sense in a way, with the Collabs effectively stuck in the same state of fear that the UK had after the Fall of France during WW2 both in TNO and OTL, in the sense of thinking that the Germans had plot armor, and were unstoppable in their advance. Hence, it was logical for them to reason that their option was either to collaborate with the 'Jerries' in hopes of keeping the genuine Nazis such as Chesterton somewhat in check, and to try their best to appease the occupiers, in order to get as much concessions on behalf of England out of them as possible, to make the occupation less unbearable.

If you are familiar with Star Trek, think of DS9, and the story about Kira's mother willingly serve as a comfort woman during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor. In their minds, continued insurgency would only result in getting more Englishman murdered by the Nazis in retaliation, and that if they couldn't find any locals to work with, they would simply outright turn England into Reichskommissariat Britannien, making the situation much, MUCH worst.

And the collabs ultimately can end breaking from the axis regardless

@chankljp Covers most of it. Each faction and subfaction of the Collabs have their own reasons.

Chesterton is ironically deeply scarred by war, and sees collaboration with Germany as a necessary evil to rebuild Britain into a newer, stronger mould.

Macmillan is scarred by the bloodshed, and will do anything to ensure Britain's homes aren't rendered ash once more.

Maudling was desperate, and sought a lifeline to prevent the death of himself and people he knew.

Thatcher grew up in a nation unsure of itself. So she decided she'd make it better on her own terms.

Home was sick and ill, and when he was well he discovered the country had died in his absence.

This has me thinking. Can anyone imagine what "victory quotes" could be included for any Russian unifiers standing victorious against Germany in the 2WRW?

To be honest, I think the 2WRW should be more of a mission/deadline with decisions on both sides to make it come faster/slower, starting from the unification of Russia
Like in the basegame the Spanish Civil War

This has me thinking. Can anyone imagine what "victory quotes" could be included for any Russian unifiers standing victorious against Germany in the 2WRW?
Rurik III : The child of two worlds slew the beast which devoured his parents.

Rogneda : Strength is more than a gun or a body. Strength is the unyielding will to do what is needed. The will of the Reich was found wanting.

Yagoda : The Soviet Union never died. It waited like the winter, until the time was right.

Zhukov : He returned to Moscow, and beyond.

Tukhachevsky : The Red Army stands.

Batov : Everything, always, for Russia. Until the end.

Yazov : Now rest can be had, for the work is complete.

Bessanov : The dream of Bukharin is not yet dead.

Men : Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's. Give unto God what is God's.

Bukharina : A daughter avenges her father's murderers.

Omsk: As they finish the journey of revenge, they grab their shovels to dig two graves.

(This is also referencing that famous meme about the Black League being armed with shovels)

Liberal or Conservative Vlad: A new Tsar Liberator.

Solidarist Vlad: War serves as an excuse for tyranny. (riff on a Solzhenitsyn quote)

@RiverDelta, I also love the Rodnega one, it fits perfectly.
