The New Order: Last Days of Europe Thread II

Also, this also reminded me how nonsensical the plot is, there is a Russian civil war and the post civil war ultranationalist state is still powerfull enought to overrun all europe all the way to prague and Hamburg and launch a invasion in US soil at the same time!
Well, yeah, it's the video game equivalent of a popcorn movie. It's not supposed to be super realistic.

ASBs just gave Russia some teleportation tech, no biggie.

The US invasion came first actually, the invasion of Europe occurs later after they've been kicked out of the US and the Russians get all the way to fucking Paris thanks to chemical weapons.

All that bullshit and without the West invading Russia at the end, goddammit its dumb.

Russia on the modern warfare series is under a government described as Ultranationalist, led by president Boris Vorshevsky,

Vorshevsky is a reformist or at least nowhere near as radical as Makarov is, so Boris's ideology would probably be akin to Shafarevich, de-facto Fascist but nowhere near as bad as the alternatives.

Makarov on the otherhand is far more interesting now that I think of it. Almost like a reverse of Sverdlovsk in that the MW Ultranats use Soviet iconography but seem to care more about restoring Russia's superpower status rather than any Communist ideals. If I were to make a Reunification one-shot like I did for Volgin, I'd place Makarov in either one of two warlord states:
  • Yurga (Makarov was a major wanted criminal following the fall of the USSR in MW, a coup against Ioseliani would turn Yurga into a unifier under an Ultranationalist dictatorship almost overnight)
  • Amur (As an ultranationalist option who can coup Rodzaevsky if his influence gets high enough post-regionals. An actual line of Makarov's, "Russia will take all of Europe, even if it must stand on a pile of ashes.", would likely go for all of the USSR's pre-WW2 territory unlike Rodzaevsky probably).

TIME FOR A FUN POINTLESS DEBATE!

Russia on the modern warfare series is under a government described as Ultranationalist, led by president Boris Vorshevsky,

My question is "In your opinion, what would be his government ideology?"

I would say despotic, since while they are described as "ultranat", Boris is shown as a cool tempered guy

I'd say that of the MW Ultranationalists, Vorshevsky would be despotist or maybe Fascist, Zakhaev would be natsoc of the Ordosocialist variety seeing how the Russian ultranationalists use soviet and nazbol symbolism, while Makarov would be ultranat.

Hmm, NatSoc would imply a belief in a hierarchy of ethnicities, yet Zakhaev was never implied to adhere to such. In fact, Zakhaev seems to be of an ethnic minority background himself (perhaps from the Caucasus?) I think he would be Ultranat like Makarov.

Unlike Makarov, Zakhaev genuinely believed in the Soviet doctrine although as a ethnic minority (his surname is Central Asian or Caucasus IIRC) he'd probably be a usurper of Serov if he were a OrdSoc.

Personally, while I will not be in favour of getting rid of Atlantropa entirely since it is so important as part of TNO's lore, I will be in favour of reducing the level of impact that the dam had on the Mediterranean. Since only the Gibraltar Dam part of Atlantropa was built, while the current amount of sea level decrease was based on the idea of the Dardanelles and the Strait of Sicily also being damed up.
Makes two of us!

The 1968 Olympics in TNO!
Canada and Japan in '64, Mexico in '68. Looking forward to seeing the potential options for 1972 and the host of the 1968 Winter Olympic games!

I believe Zakhaev is a Chechen(but I don’t think that was ever 100 percent confirmed).

So there is a 2WRW submod being made.

This just made me think of how interesting it would be having a Metal Gear Solid game with Snake going against the nazis.

So, a game about The Boss.

It's impressive. Though I'm not fond of how Putin seems to be included, going by one of the focus icons. Since it was established in lore that Putin's parents died in Leningrad for him to be born and he would be butterflied, even if they hadn't. As well, since fictionalized versions of Putin tend to be little of substance but meme fodder (which I believe is also why the devs made it explicitly clear that Putin does not exist in TNOverse).

I hope the Metal Gears are a joke and not actually being added into the submod.
This is a submod, so none of it will be in the mod itself

That's the direction the MGS franchise should have been going in for like a decade now. A prequel game where the Boss has to infiltrate Festung Europa to foil a Nazi experiment that turns out to be the beginnings of Metal Gear would be awesome.
