Black Cat (a.k.a. Lt. Patricia Robertson)- Robertson was a communications specialist for the U.S. Army stationed at a radar installation in Canada near the Arctic Circle. She had joined the Army in order to "prove herself" but got more than she bargained for. During a routine supply run to an outpost owned by the Hexus Corporation, she stumbled upon a grisly scene: everyone at the installation was dead except for one lone scientist locked in the freezer. She brought the survivor back to base for medical attention, then people began dying there as well. It was revealed that the scientists had cloned Venom in order to fulfill their objective: application of the parasite as a biological weapon. The clone would burn out its hosts' life, unlike the real Venom (traits which seem to be a throwback to the invading symbiotes). Due to this experience Robertson was infected by the parasite, granting her the ability to create weapons such as claws and increased agility and strength. As such, SHIELD has begun to use Robertson as the case officer responsible for monitoring Storm Front, The Xavier Institute, and the Lensherr Institute of Higher Learning. Her brash personality has put her in conflict with characters such as Spiderman and the Punisher

After three terms as a state senator for Manhattan's Mutant Town, Andren won an upset victory in the Senate election of 2004, becoming the first openly mutant Senator. His abilities -- a low-level telepathy characterised as 'empathy', allowing him to understand the world through another's eyes -- served him well in the Senate inquiry into high-level corruption at Stark Industries, which ultimately led to the exposure of Tony Stark's vigilante activities as 'Iron Man'. His bipartisan coalition with Republican Senator John McCain led to the enactment of the Mutant Anti-Discrimination Act, the first legislative protection of mutant rights. His charisma, national stature, and undoubted legislative skills (who else could charm Robert Kelly so readily?) have made him a prime presidential prospect for 2008.

The Vulture (a.k.a. Adrian Toomes)-Former sheriff of a Western town where Baron Mordo appeared in 1880. Sheriff Toomes was the only doubter of the demon's unholy wisdom, he was immediately shunned by his people and spiraled into an alcohol-fueled despair. Meanwhile, the town was stricken by a virulent plague that killed the townfolk, then brought them back from the grave. After being mocked by Baron Mordo for failing to protect his citizens, the sheriff became consumed by vengeance and rode through the town, slaughtering zombies and storming the camp of Baron Mordo. The terrified Mordo attempted to use his necromancy on the sheriff, but rather than turning him into a zombie, it had a reverse effect. He became a living man with an insatiable hunger for the flesh of the dead, which garnered him the name, "Vulture." In the years that followed, he tracked the Mordo across the countryside in a single-minded quest to avenge the town he didn't protect. To this end, he has been allied with such characters as The Punisher, The Ghost Riders,Stephen Strange, Wanda Strange and even Storm Front.

Reverend Colton Candell (a.k.a. Herald)- Colton Candell is a Los Angeles, California-based televangelist who had a "transformative experience" when Galactus, Devourer of Suns appeared on Earth. When Galactus grew determined to consume the energy-rich planet Earth. The Azure Axemaid rebelled as a result, and Susan Storm and the Defenders thwarted Galactus by threatening to use an alien device called the Ultimate Nullifier on him, a weapon that could lay waste to the universe and kill even Galactus. Galactus was forced to vow to spare Earth in exchange for the Nullifier's return, and he punished the Axemaid for her betrayal by erecting an undetectable energy barrier that prevented the Axemaid from leaving Earth.
During his last attempt to devour Earth, Galactus had gone so long without "feeding" that his energies were the lowest they had ever been and he was near death; thus a large number of Earth's superhuman defenders actually succeeded in defeating him in battle. Galactus lay dying, succumbing to his own hunger, but Dr Doom, with the help of Dr Susan Storm, saved his life with the help of Thor's mystic hammer Mjolnir. The grateful Galactus pledged his friendship to Doom and sincerely gave his word never to attack the Earth's sun again. Galactus has steadfastly abided by this oath ever since. During this visit to Earth Galactus recruited his latest herald, Dark Echo (Alicia Masters).
During this entire series of events Candell and his sister, Elyna Candell, have captured one of the many heralds of Galactus, Grigori (a.k.a. Shevaun Haldane). Through careful manipulation of the energies of Grigori, Candell was able to convince his international audience of followers that he had the ability to cure people with a laying of hands, that he had precognitive abilities (which served to increase his political capital), and that he was able to detect mutants "within his midst". It wasn't until Sam & Beth Kemperer discovered Grigori underneath the Los Angeles-based Temple of Light was it suspected that Candell could be a fraud. To make matters worse, it was discovered that he has been transferring the powers of Girgori into his cancer-ridden niece Irena Candell. With his power over Grigori, and his own considerable political and financial resources, Candell is a major threat, not only to himself, but for any who oppose his teachings (incl. The Defenders, Storm Front, Thor, et al.)

Residents of the town developed a series of strange infections that covered the body in sores In 1995, the same type of infection was experienced in Isamuru, Japan and Hobb's End, Rhode Island. Is this all a coincidence or part of something darker? Only time and the tide shall tell!!

Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym (a.k.a. "the Alchemist")-acclaimed physicist who escaped from the 1956 Hungarian Secret Police and Soviet military forces from Budapest, Hungary. Henry "Hank" Pym was recruited by the United States government as part of Project: Sentinel until 1963, when it was concluded that Pym had been engaging in "unorthodox experiments". In 1965, he escaped to San Francisco, California wherein he became heavily involved in the counterculture movement in an effort to "learn about the profound possibilities of the human mind and body..." With the League of Superhuman Discovery (LSD) he would illegally traffic "Pym Particles" granting people the ability to shrink or grow in tremendous height. FBI and DEA reports conclude that some of his clientele have included socialite Janet Van Dyne, Scott Lang, Eric O'Grady, Clint Barton, Bill Foster, Erik Josten, Tom Foster, Rita DeMara, Cassie Lang, and Katrina Luisa Van Horn. He was able to elude police prosecution for his actions until 1968, when he went to prison until 1976. When he was released in 1976, he relocated to the Laurel Canyon region of San Diego, California. Using his connections with the The Pride (a.k.a. "Secret Empire") with a personal friendship with kingpins Geoffrey and Catherine Wilder, Pym has eluded prosecution from local and federal drug officials. Even now, he is considered one of the most controversial figures within the metahuman community.
Doctor Otto Gunther Octavius (a.k.a. "Doctor Octopus")- Octavius was one of the top archaeologists for Empire University, alma mater to "Flash" Thompson, Peter Parker, Victor von Doom, et al. Octavian obtained a reputation as a leader in Hyperborean Studies. During the ill-fated Hellstorm Expedition in 1963 in the South Pacific, he began an intensive study of the four metal columns reported from R'lyeh. As he began to investigate he slowly becomes obseesed with them. At the base of each column is what looks like a sucker. According to his diaries, the urge to place them on his body increased as time goes on, but he avoided doing so.
Unfortunately one day in the lab he slipped on some alcohol that an assistant had not cleaned up. he falls back first into the table where the columns are set. The suckers immediately attach themselves to his back and each send in a tongue-like root. The pain drove him mad and visions of R'lyeh pound his mind. They are opposed by the half-humans and "imperfects" they despise, and Satana especially arouses the ire of the Hate-Monger as she's openly half-human, not hiding her non-human half. Electro (a.k.a. Ryoichi "Ryu" Ikegami, PHD)- prior to an accident at Koda Pharmaceuticals, Doctor Ikegami was a studious scientist who was indebted to the Yakuza Clan, Ishiyama Ryu (a.k.a. "the Hand"). Over the years, he became exposed to chemicals which accumulated in his bloodstream, until he was finally transformed one evening during a thunderstorm, where he was struck by lightning. Electro commands many supernatural abilities such as the ability to teleport, control lightning, and fly. As an immortal, he thinks in terms of eternity rather than normal human lifespans and his memories date back to the beginning of time itself. It is theorized that it is unlikely that Electro can ever be truly killed. Even if his mortal form is destroyed, Electro will rematerialize some time afterward. With his links to HYDRA, the Ishiyama Ryu a.k.a. the Hand clan, and Koda Pharmaceuticals, it is suspected that Ikegami is now one of the most dangerous Yakuza hitmen according to SHIELD and Interpol records. He is to be considered armed and dangerous at all times....
Lt. Sharon Venutra (a.k.a. "She-Hulk") - Raised solely by her father, a strict military man who demanded the absolute best from his daughter, Sharon Ventura had a hard time pleasing him and his impossibly high standards. At West Point Academy, she spent the next several years of her life still looking for approval from her father by taking on incredible challenges, and dangerous physically active professions hoping all the while that if he were alive, her father would say that he was proud of her. Sharon Ventura is an accomplished gymnast, a skilled wrestler, an expert motorcycle stunt rider, mountain climber, scuba and sky diver, with combat training. Ventura recently received super-powers from Col. Ben Grimm after a blood transfusion to save her life during a mission in Baghdad. As such, she has fallen under hte command of General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and his black ops unit. While romantic rumors of Grimm and Ventura have some credence, they have remained discreet allowing their assignment with each other....
Swordsman (a.k.a. "Jacques Duquesne" a.k.a. "Philip Javert" a.k.a. "Georges Batroc")- One of the most controversial members of the Avengers team, Duquesne was a member of the Avengers, based on agreements with the French government. What wasn't learned until much later was that first, he was a wanted criminal by INTERPOL for actions taken against the Kingdom of Latveria, black ops in Wakanda, and intelligence operations against SHIELD. According to testimony before House Armed Forces Committee, Hawkeye suspected that Duquesne was actually a spy, keeping detailed files on his activities and missions. From these notes he was able to discover that Duquesne was a spy planted by the French government, formally known as Georges Batroc. Batroc was a veteran of the French Foreign Legion who had served in Wakanda. Before he could be formally confronted with this information, Swordsman was brutally attacked and dismembered by a Mole-Man. With both arms and legs ripped violently from his body, blinded in one eye, and receiving burns over what was left of his body, Duquesne nearly went insane. Spending weeks in physical therapy and rehabilitation, along with years of medication have only fueled his anger. Currently he is a guest columnist for the Daily Bugle and national talk-shows, speaking of the dangers of metahumans and mutants, saying only that, "they are a threat to world security..."
Mole-Men (Homo subterranis)- discovered in November 1961 by Sgt. Harvey Rupert Elder, U.S. Army, Dr. Artur Molekevic (USSR), and Dr. Franklin Storm (U.S.); The Mole-Men are an alien humanoid species that claim to be the original inhabitants of the earth humans now live in, they also claim to have evolved from the humans they are now trying to take the earth back from, whether or not this is true the invasion of earth seems to have spread from Tunguska, Russia as a result of some scientific tests and has since spread over all of mainland Europe and North America.
Mole-Men are much stronger than a regular human and noted physical characteristics include Mole-Men having between two to six bright yellow eyes, greatly varied anatomies, and grayish-green skin. Their metabolism is another contrasting difference, as it is twelve times that of a normal human's, which grants them extraordinary regeneration abilities, speed, and strength, but the side effect of this trait is that their bodies tend to overheat, which literally cooks them from the inside out. It is because of this reason that Mole-Man warriors have artificial cooling devices painfully implanted on their backs in order to survive. This suggests that Mole-Men are not being created under ideal conditions. The Mole-Men tend to thrive in very cold temperatures and there have been successful attempts by the Mole-Men to alter the Earth's climate to suit their needs. As a direct result, temperatures in certain locations such as New York City, Salt Lake City, Chicago, London, et al. have been reduced to sub-zero temperatures, so those areas are frozen during July. The genetic make-up of the Mole-Men appears to have been formed to specifically designed to attack and modify human genes, suggesting that there is something more to the Mole-Men than is already known.

WENCHANG CITY, PRC- At approximately 0932 Local time, PLA officials from the Wenchang Satellite Center reported the crash of an unidentified object, 75 miles northeast offshore of Hainan Island, in the South China Sea. To make things even more mysterious, according to CIA and U.S. Navy Intelligence, the unidentified object sent out a series of distress calls that followed the protocols and codes for the Execelsior-4 of 1961. Considering the nature of the emergency, President Zheng Fu Kang has invoked the 1948 MAJESTIC Protocols, and has called for the members of the U.N. Security Council to converge in Beijing. As such as delegation has been put together consisting of the President, SHIELD Director Henry Peter Gyrich, General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, Susan Storm, Charles Xavier, Erick Magnus Lensherr and a Congressional delegation led by James Alan Arden (D-NY). If this is an actual return of the crew of Excelsior-4, we will certainly have a lot of questions for them.
BEIJING, PRC- President Zheng Fu Kang sits in his office with his advisors. He quietly awaits a message from the adjoining delegations from the G-8. He has been briefed about the issue of the members of the Excelsior-4 mission. What is more disturbing are the alien creatures that have come back with the crew of astronauts. The Watcher Coalition formed on September 14, 1939. It is a coalition of hundreds of organizations and prominent individuals and scores of organizing centers in cities and towns across the country. Its national steering committee represents major national organizations that have campaigned against metahuman/mutant intervention in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia, and organizations that have campaigned for civil rights and for social and economic justice for working and poor people around the world.
The Watcher Coalition gained prominence because the Coalition from its earliest days provided a principled and activist orientation to organize political resistance through mass action, and created a forum for people of conscience to speak out when so many others were silent. Many of the national organizations that constitute the Watcher Coalition Steering Committee were those groups in the pro-humanity movement who during the Second World War and in the most difficult circumstances when people around the world were subject to a carefully orchestrated round the clock campaign to divide the human race...
