I'm convinced that most of the modern fascination with Nazi germany is down to the fact that they were such snappy dressers. Theres no comprable level of interest in the soviets despite the fact they too committed hideous crimes, had a totalatarian state and invaded smaller countires. Why? Because they had no dress sense. I know this sounds flippant but I think there is a degree of truth to it. So lets say that Hitlers tastes ran to minimilism. Would an organisation which lacked there real time flare have had the same effect on the world? Would foreign visitors have been so impressed and intimidated with a Nazi germany which retrained the grotty brown aesthetic for their rallies, or had a less iconic flag? In short how much real world power stemmed from the Nazis visual impact, and would foreign relations in the mid to late 30s differ if they had a less impressive "look"?
